Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

Counter-assault must be coming soon, IBN was asked to stop airing live footage from the hostage areas.
Bush has thrown in the towel.
This op was put together pretty quickly, if that is the case...
You won’t get word from Bush.
He plays them close to the vest till the bombs are already falling.
He’s also been awful chummy with Obama lately too.
We won’t know much till it happens.
Makes little sense that heavily armed local terrorist would arrive by rubber dingy. They could have just drove a car or walked around town. Only way that makes sense is if the waterways gave them better attack logistics.
What's the over/under on Bush coming out sometime during the next few days to remind us all that Islam is a religion of peace?
I doubt CNN will get a report from the “bunker”...;0)
No he hasn’t.
Same hotel.
IBN has been requested to not show live operations as commandos take up positions. Still showing firefighting, though.

I would think so. A group connected to Al Quaeda from Pakistan has been active in India lately. The fact they looked for Americans and British also point to it coming from Pakistan. India is the only stable government in the area which makes it a threat. Pakistan and Afghanistan have pretty much merged although not government wise and are very unstable. I don’t think this is a Kashmir thing either. What is strange though is how well organized it was that it had to be financed and that’s what leaves the door open to possibly someone else? Those groups in Pakistain do not have this amount of organization or money. I would look to a group from another country with a little more sophistication as the organizer and to me, that would be coming from a surrounding country that is more sophisticated. It would be far out there to say Russia but maybe Iran??? In any event, after this, I don’t see how anything can be resolved in that region without India being involved. I think India will insist on it.

“Put your hand up if youre British or American”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “GUNMEN who killed more than 80 people in Mumbai last night ordered hotel guests: Put your hand up if youre British or American. Frightened hostages were marched off and their fate was unclear. Local reports said they could include up to 40 British and other foreigners.
Late last night police were said to be storming two luxury hotels, one of which was ablaze.
The Oberoi and Taj Mahal Palace hotels were among at least SEVEN locations attacked simultaneously as maniacs with machine guns and bombs staged massacres that rocked the teeming Indian city.
At least 900 were wounded as the wild-eyed terrorists, thought to be Islamic fanatics, opened fire and lobbed grenades indiscriminately.
A rail station, restaurant and police HQ were also hit, along with a hospital where 58 perished.”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Mumbai has frequently been targeted by Islamic extremists, including a series of bombings in July 2007 that killed 187 people.
A group calling itself the Deccan Mujahedeen last night boasted its members had staged the attacks.
Police said: The encounters are still going on and we are trying to overpower them.”
“They specifically took out the police anti-terror chief... Not likely by coincidence...
It’s a terrible occurrence, but it was all well planned- unfortunately.
Could have been that the Somali Pirates or Pakistani Radicals offered money and logistical support to an internal Indian Mujaheddin group. That would explain the heavily armed part of the attack. Don't know why they would use rubber watercraft if they were local. Perhaps they got the weapons from a foreign support ship which then provided the rubber craft.
Anything is possible, but for AQ this is too soon for retaliation of that sort; they never do anything without long planning.
People who cheered Musharaff leaving are going to rue the day... he held Pakistan together (JMHO)
