FOX News Channels (FNC) Alan Colmes will relinquish his role as co-host of Hannity & Colmes at the end of the year.
In announcing his decision, Colmes said, I approached Bill Shine (FNCs Senior Vice President of Programming) earlier this year about wanting to move on after 12 years to develop new and challenging ways to contribute to the growth of the network. Although its bittersweet to leave one of the longest marriages on cable news, Im proud that both Sean (Hannity) and I remained unharmed after sitting side by side, night after night for so many years.
Colmes will continue to have a presence on FNC as he will serve as a liberal commentator on a variety of FOX News programming, including Foxnews.coms The Strategy Room and continue hosting his radio program, The Alan Colmes Show on FOX Talk, a division of FOX News Radio. He will also begin developing a weekend program.
Shine said, Were very sorry to see Alan reach this decision but we understand his desire to seek other creative challenges in his career. We value his incredible hard work in making Hannity & Colmes the most successful debate program on cable news and were going to miss him on the show. Thankfully, he will begin developing a weekend pilot for us.
FOX News Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Roger Ailes added, Alan is one of the key reasons why FOX News has been such a remarkable success. Were sad to see him leave the program but we look forward to his ongoing contributions to the network.
Hannity & Colmes is the only FNC program which has remained in the same timeslot for 12 years, catapulting to number one in 2003 and never relinquishing the top spot. The second highest-rated program in cable news behind only The OReilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes averaged 3.3 million viewers nightly for the Nielsen month of October and is poised to mark 60 consecutive months at number one at the end of November.
Hannity added, Not only has Alan been a remarkable co-host, hes been a great friend which is rare in this industry Ill genuinely miss sparring with such a skillful debate partner.
Throughout his 12 year tenure on Hannity & Colmes, Colmes has interviewed numerous key political figures, including: President Elect Barack Obama, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA), DNC Chairman Howard Dean and former Vice President Al Gore.
FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour general news service covering breaking news as well as political, entertainment and business news. For nearly seven years, FNC has been the most watched cable news channel in the nation. Owned by News Corp., FNC is available in more than 90 million homes.
I’d prefer Hannity and Coulter and have them double-team dismantling their liberal guests.
Probably why deep thought on liberal talk radio is so engaging.
Sean made that show top rated...not Alan, regardless of the buttering up the network heads give him.
Don’t let the door hit you in butt, Alan...simply repeating the DNC talking points does not a commentator make.
By by Giraffe.
There are some sixty million Obama voter idiots to choose from. Fox News can't go wrong.
We call him Dr. Seuss at our house.

From Breitbart
Everytime Colmes says something dumb... you have to drink.
You must have been drunk an awful lot.
Maybe a constitutional amendment, making media celebrity a further qualification to hold office, would be prudent. Proven entertainers like Franken, Colmes, Ventura, etc. instead of rank amateurs.
Here's an excerpt from one of the three "Hannity & Colmes" parodies I wrote way back in 1998, when regulars included Victor Kamber, Betsy McCaughey-Ross, Julianne Malveaux, etc.:
HANNITY: Victor, are you calling the murder of Vincent Foster an obscure technicality?
KAMBER: Alleged murder.
HANNITY: Web Hubbell produced an actual videotape of Bill Clinton shooting Foster in the head, blowing the smoke away from the gun barrel, and saying to the camera, "Thats how Cuomo and his goombas back east would have handled it"!
KAMBER: We dont know if that videotape is real.
HANNITY: Its been verified by seven independent investigators, the CIA, and the FBI. The president even called Mario Cuomo to apologize for the ethnic slur.
COLMES: Sean, you act as if Clintons the first president to kill anyone. What about Washington, Grant, Eisenhower, and Bush, to name a few?
HANNITY: They were soldiers for godsake! Its obviously not the same thing.
KAMBER: Youre just finding excuses for other presidents whove killed people.
CLIFT: Sean, can I interrupt? If the military werent so loathsome, Bill Clinton might have gone to Vietnam and done his killing in a way that you right-wing fanatics might have approved of!
COLMES: Ambassador Keyes, try to look at this video the way I look at this video - point your left eyeball straight ahead and your right eyeball at some ill-defined spot near the ceiling.
KEYES: Im sorry Alan, but my eyes are synchronized. I look at this video as an indelible indictment of our entire country. Liberals in congress and the media spend all their time trying to redirect the people from the main point. This murdering, marauding man we have in the White House is the most dangerous man in America. His actions are manifestly malignant and his supporters are coconspirators in the destruction of this once great nation.
COLMES: I fail to see how that exonerates Ken Starr. Betsy, I understand youve done a little research on impeachment law involving murder.
MCCAUGHY ROSS: Thats right Alan. Because I am a constitutional scholar, I was able to determine that the phrase "treason, bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors" does not contain the word "murder". Even if you scramble the letters, you are still missing the "u"...
Hold on.... I think some of my co-workers are back from lunch. I’ll see if they are interested.
good-bye to one unreasonable, obnoxious, partisan, liberal democrat.
IMHO
Sounds like when a University fires a football coach: Greg is one of the key reasons why Syracuse Football has been such a remarkable success..."
ABOUT TIME
LET US HAVE KIRSTIN POWERS.
colmes over the years has got more and more wacko with his left wing loon view points.
His bile against Palin was horrible and it was because of him I have not watched the show for some time.
No doubt Colmes now will make a book and say how FOX is radical right wing in order to make money for himself and to be more of a hero to his loon friends
I already voted with my remote. Hannity and Colmes is unwatchable regardless of who’s doing the talking. Haven’t seen the show in over 2 years. Same goes for O’Really. Wish somebody would give Rush, Boortz or Mark Steyn a show.
He's probably going to try and conquer Castle Grayskull once and for all!
Who needs the “Debate” format anyway. Like the idea of dual hosts, but for ratings Hannity’s partner should be:
Ann C.
Michele M.
Meghan K.
Laurie D.
Laura I.
etc.
C2K
Unfortunately, there are many leftist idiots to choose from.....although it will be hard to find one as creepy looking as Alan.
Does Hannity have to get another liberal cohost? I’d prefer the show without another. Colmes seems particularly better suited to radio; that’s all I’ll say.
