Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader By Alexander Bolton Posted: 11/16/08 01:05 PM [ET]

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.

But Gingrich, an architect of the Republican revolution of 1994, took Palin down a notch, asserting that she would not become the party’s leader, as some have predicted.

“I think that she is going to be a significant player,” said Gingrich during an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation”. “But she’s going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. She’s not going to be the de facto leader.”

Since the defeat of the GOP ticket, Palin has pursued an aggressive media strategy, scheduling a full slate of interviews to keep her face on television.

I don’t disagree; however, I was getting McCain stuff from the GOP long before he was any where near winning the primary. It was most interesting?

Oh really, Newt, you degenerate?

He only thinks women are good for divorcing or taking as mistresses. Why don’t you “pal up” with Clinton, your spiritual brother in sleaze.

Bias. How silly. A human-interest Greta piece and an appearance at the governor's meeting. Although I wish she'd make a trip to GA for Chambliss.

I’m not sold on Palin yet. She seems pretty sophomoric at times and needs a sharper edge on the issues.

Kinda like Obama, huh?

Sarah pulled in huge $$$ for the RNC. I cant imagine who these 20 - 30 conservatives are. All I see in Jindal and Palin.

At 3:04 pm (EST) on this date:

I am now convinced Newt is an ass, which I did not think so before. And I used to defend him.

baggage ? What baggage.

Sarah is probably the cleanest most ethical candidate in the history of US Presidential politics. They tried and tried to dig up dirt on her. All they could find is that she killed some wildlife.

People are watching. Any attempt to derail Sarah from within the Republican party will be met with an absolute decleration of war.

If you take away the traditional right and the South Park Republicans. SARAHS core BASE.

You are left with RINOs and a bunch of old farts on golf carts.

We better blow away the usual crowd of Republicans. Most of the “usual” are worth about as much as an empty glass. Small government; balanced budgets; low taxes (maybe even eliminate some); strict adherence to the Constitution; conservative judges; elimination of such Departments as Education and Energy; drilling anytime and anywhere, nuclear plants, coal plants, refineries; elimination of punitve rules, laws and regulations to make it possible for individuals and businesses to do their jobs by providing those goods and services necessary for a vibrant and dollar healthy economy.

Well. No one can say that Governor Palin hasn’t been “vetted.” The Commie bloggers and the Commie MSM gave her the Mother of all Rectal Exams these past few months. They’ll have to come up with some other Commie propaganda crap in 2012.

I predict she'll be frozen out of making that trip. Too bad for Chambliss.

But Gingrich on Sunday sought to divert some media attention away from Palin and to other governors such as Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and Utah Gov. John Huntsman (R).

“She’s going to be a much bigger story in the short run,” said Gingrich, explaining Palin’s higher media profile compared to other GOP governors. “But, I think, as she goes back to being governor and as she works in Alaska, you’re going to see a group of governors emerge, not just Sarah Palin.”

If anyone bothers to read the article, Newt does not dismiss Sarah Palin as a leader. He gives an honest and accurate assessment, imo. My guess is that there are quite a number of posters climbing all over Newt's ass for the title of the article alone. We shall see.

Personally, I think this move takes a little media heat off Sarah. Let her do her job, is she is going to be the leader, she will show herself. Cream rises to the top.

We’re probably not interested in who is not going to be the leader. There was already no leader this time around. Been there, done that.
