Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader By Alexander Bolton Posted: 11/16/08 01:05 PM [ET]
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.
Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.
But Gingrich, an architect of the Republican revolution of 1994, took Palin down a notch, asserting that she would not become the partys leader, as some have predicted.
I think that she is going to be a significant player, said Gingrich during an interview on CBSs Face the Nation. But shes going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. Shes not going to be the de facto leader.
Since the defeat of the GOP ticket, Palin has pursued an aggressive media strategy, scheduling a full slate of interviews to keep her face on television.

Either Gingrich is right, or Palin is going to reform national Republicans like she reformed Alaska’s Republicans.
There’s nothing wrong with what Newt said. He’s right. Sarah’s going to have a lot of GOP competition. That’s just a fact, not a slam on Sarah.
Newt needs to hang ‘em up. Like an old gunfighter, he can’t resist slinging lead.
more dividing and conquering of Republicans from the lamestream media.
Bump.
“ said Gingrich during an interview on CBSs Face the Nation. But shes going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. Shes not going to be the de facto leader.”
“BECAUSE I SAID SO!”.......More of Gingrich wishful thinking. This guy can’t be trusted and he’s as RINO as McCain. Please be skeptical.
The first thing she can do is to govern well; then write some things so that her name gets out there as associated with conservative ideas---just as Reagan did for 20 years. She needs to make some speeches---on her own, not as McCain's front-person.
I like Palin. She needs to show the commitment to winning the presidency that it requires. I'm sure she has it in her.
Sarah Palin writes a few books in the next four years, builds a war chest of over 10 million dollars on her own, and then runs in the Republican primary and wipes you RINO snots to back to Loser-ville as the Republican and Conservative voters overwhelmingly pick her to run for the presidency.
I agree. This is mainstream crap, trying to stir the pot so that conservatives stay disorganized. We don’t want to do to Palin what the Dems did to Hillary-—anoint her four years early, then have to re-tool while someone else comes on the scene. Yeah, they got lucky, with a once-in-a-lifetime guy. You won’t do that every election.
You cannot teach most of the posters here to read.
[And whatever you may think of Gingrich, he is NOT a RINO. Duh.]
Who told you that Newt?
was it Nancy, Hillary or was it Algore at your last global warming conference?
Who are these 20 or 30 significant players?
I think Newt is blowing hot air
Not a surprise. Newt said last week he’s considering a presidential bid of his own. They’re all trying to knock down the grassroots support for Gov. Palin.
Let us not forget that His Newtness supports global warming.
As far as I’m concerned he can go to....to where ever he is from and stay there.
I have a great idea. Lets have the voters decide Newt!
If he'd been less tolerant we'd most likely have gotten more Conservative Senators into office and they'd still be there.
I thinking back to the 1994 election ~ a word from Gingrich to John Warner (the RINO senator from Virginia) to keep his mouth shut would have put North into office and kept Chuck Robb from another term.
If Gingrich feels he can't participate in purging the RINOs he can help us by NOT encouraging any of them.
Is that any kin to ExLax?
At this point, I think the very terminology, “GOP leader,” is hypothetical. There is too much that needs to be done....and it needs to be done by many.
Well Newt, I can only speak for me. I thought about writing Duncan Hunter in but decided to give Sarah a chance to fix things, since you guys can’t seem to get the job done.John McCain was not a consideration.
