Animals Rights Group Approaches Blue Cross Blue Shield
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont to raise health insurance premiums for people who eat meat and lower the premiums for vegetarians, Plattsburgh, Vt., television station WPTZ reported.
~snip~ Not sure how much we are allowed to post from IB
Great minds think alike, hehehe.
Isn’t one of their claims that meat eaters cause global warming due to increased animal farming?
(so AlGORE is fat due to eating kolrabbi?)
Hey PETA: first protest ALGORE, then cut my grass, take the clippings up to the mountains and feed it to a bear.
LOL. I will now fire up a Fuente Petit Corona in a gesture of accord.
People who ‘hate’ suffer more illnesses. Peta had better ve ‘very’ careful.
hmmmm - meat animals eat vegetable matter to grow.
So if I eat meat, I am eating processed vegetables,
So by default, meat is veggies and therefore healthy.
... so who is this man of science?
Don't need to, you pay for it.
While it’s true there is a correlation between heavy meat eating/ low produce eating and health problems (cancer, heart disease), this does not mean that “no meat” makes a person healthier. A person with a 10% meat diet where the remaining 90% is whole plant foods will be infinitely healthier than the person eating white rice and fried tofu every day. Dairy is probably as bad or even worse for people than modest amounts of meat, so why is PETA focusing just on meat? Oh yeah, they want to make ice cream out of human breastmilk (groan).
Even vegan Dr. Joel Fuhrman (”Eat to Live”) admits that modest amounts of meat eating is probably fine as long as the rest of the diet is rich in greens, fruits, and legumes.
And about PETA’s claim that e. coli is a great risk to meat eaters... hello, remember the spinach deaths? Heck, you can get even . coli from water if it is contaminated.
Hey Freepers, just pack your stuff and come live in the Republic of Panama. This crap is unheard of here.
You also will not have to deal with Obama.
Is there any proof that protein deprivation makes people healthier?
The sickliest looking ‘healthy’ people that I’ve known have been vegans.
Joining you with a Cohiba Maduro #5.
I was wondering when someone would make the contaminated spinach point.
Fact is nothing eaten is probably safe from e-coli except fully cooked meat!
Most “vegetarians” have a dreadful diet consisting of refined grains, fake meat substitutes, and dairy. There are excellent vegan sources of protein (nuts and legumes) but a modest amount of meat is beneficial if the rest of the diet is heavy on plant-derived foods. Look at how primates eat in their natural habitats... breastmilk as infants and then about 8-10% meat (insects, birds, cannibalized young) and the remain 90-92% is vegan (fruit and leaves). They are some of the strongest animals on earth.
Looks good! I need to fire up that grill this evening.
Mark
OK if PETA is made to pay a dummie tax equal what they want to raise medical insurance premiums ....
They are dumber than dumb.
Isn’t this the bunch that said all of the chicken lined up for purchase in the grocery store is no different than the pictures of the bodies from the Holocaust?
Health costs of AIDS treatments far outweigh costs of eating too much meat. Let’s tackle that premium increase first!
You’ll also haveto charge vegans more too, as their diets are also not perfect and are often lacking in essential minerals and substances.
