My NYU teacher tried to indoctrinate the class yesterday (vanity)
11/15/2008

Posted on 11/14/2008 10:32:33 PM PST by GreaterSwiss

I am taking a continuing education business class at NYU. Well last night after we reviewed the teacher (the course is almost over), he gave us a 15 minute rant.

-Paul Krugman is a genuis and predicted everything. -More Regulation is needed -Reagan on was a bad period. We need to get back to the 70s -Barney Frank will help make things better -Community Reinvestment Act did nothing to this situation -Fannie & Freddie were only bit players

Then a girl in the class added she's so happy now since we are going from a stupid president to a smart president..

I am thinking of not going for the final class. I hold 2 masters so I don't need the class for anything just personal development. The last time I had a teacher like this, I got a 97 on the final and a B in the class.

Yale and Harvard to Columbia and Harvard I would like to see Obama’s transcripts. I know GW had better grades than Al Gore.
I think the student meant “I am so glad we are going from a dumb president to a dumber one.”

Don’t you dare quit! Us ditchdiggers need you to point the incoming recruits of guvmint indoctrination to the joys of self government and Constitutional law.
Good luck!!

These people are going to learn a very hard lesson...

I fear not. No matter what happens they will blame the Right and rationalize their own elite "brilliance" and "superiority" as being victimized by us -- we, the ignorant, the rednecks, the trailer trash, the mouth breathers, the hoi polloi. Left vs. Right is really about elitism and class warfare. The Left can never be wrong.

GO back to the class. You say you don't need the grade. SO go back and call him on it. I recently read about Solomon Asch and some experiments he did on conformity. Most people don't to stand alone. If you express your opinion, maybe you can give courage to some other student to stand up for themselves.

I hope I do this right. Here's a link http://www.age-of-the-sage.org/psychology/social/asch_conformity.html

no, you don’t understand the college indoctrination.
i was & still am as of today 4.0 only because i dropped the class of an afro-centric teacher in my last english class.
i wrote a paper that i final drafted over & over because i knew she’d slam me about africa & the euro drag on it.
her grade for me was “F” and she said i need to seek counseling & my opinions are unwelcome on college campuses.
i dropped it quickly & received not only an “A” for the final class but the teacher said she’d enter my paper into a contest.
sry about the non caps but that’s how i do things bow
i learned from her that when in college write only from the LEFTIST view & you are ib

You might want to ask the dumbo just how business could possibly be enhanced by O. Specifically what idea has he promoted that would be good for business and good for America.

The dumb people have an R after their name. The smart people have a D after their name.

It’s clear that you did not go through public schools.

You could tell the prof that from now on you are just going to exercise the Frank Doctrine for Higher Education: sign up and take classes at NYU without paying the tuition and fees. Default, as it were, on your tuition payments. Let him know you are going to recommend that other students do the same. If they can’t afford to pay him, oh, well.

I hear you. My undergrad was at Berkeley and former Clinton treasury undersecretary Bradford DeLong was always whaling on how Bush was destroying our economy through deficit spending and an unnecessary tax cut in times of boom.

Oh wait ...

At any rate, we are in for the worst downturn since the great depression. Goldman Sachs said that unemployment would reach 8.5% at the end of next year with not upturn in sight by 2010. We probably won’t see job recovery until late 2012 at most.

Do you speak up? I was also an A student and used to fight my leftist professors tooth & nail (it became a bit a theater with a few of them)— the professors actually loved it and I’m sure I gave the students something to think about (which is more than the usual classes did). It’s not easy, but winning minds never is.

Depends on the professor. Good professors, even when they are hardcore lefties, may not agree with your pov but will give you a good grade if you can support your arguments.

Well, I was cautious in that the teachers I did this with were both semi-reasonable, plus had multiple choice tests as a basis for their grading. I perform very well on those tests and was the top student in their classes. It was a while ago, so it was easier than it is in the current college environment. But smart conservatives still need to challenge the left— they won't convince the leftist professors (I didn't), but they'll have an impact on the students that are stuck in the class. I had a definite impact, many students told me so, and I'm not a particularly skilled debater— I simply offered an alternate though— something most had never heard.

In 1996, I was an honor student with a 4.0 average. My History teacher tried to tell the class that Nixon got us into Vietnam and started the draft. Both he and I were in our 40s, so I knew he was really sucker-punching the kids. I squeeked a bit and mentioned Kennedy and Johnson. That was the end of my 4.0 average. The halls of higher education are the domain of Socialists.
