I had a friend who grew up in the Soviet Union. He told me a funny story about how he was kicked out of the Young Pioneers and had to turn in his red neckerchief in front of his entire school assembly. His crime? He had attempted to set a girl's eyelashes (excessive mascara) on fire with a lighter. He stated that he: "shed a beeetter tear" at the time because not being a Young Pioneers essentially ruined your life. But he added that his Cossack friends, who didn't give a damn about the Young Pioneers: "were laughing their asses off". He spoke very fondly of the free ranging Cossack lifestyle, traveling as a teenager around the countryside for hundreds of miles on horseback, surprisingly without restriction.

BTW he said that civil defense training was part of school and that he could assemble, repair and fire AK47's, low crawl under barb wire, perform first aid etc etc etc at by age 12. He also spoke of experimenting with firearms in which he and his friends demonstrated that a 7.62 round at close range, could penetrate a train rail. I have no idea how they got away with that.

The commie democrats intentions are probably not entirely bad, and could result in arming society even more, like the Swiss and the Israelis. But we know what the road to hell is paved with. They can have my children when they take them from my cold dead hands.
