Steele Likely to Seek RNC Leadership Post
Fox News ^ | November 11, 2008 | Bill Sammon

Posted on 11/11/2008 2:05:16 PM PST by St. Louis Conservative

Michael Steele, former lieutenant governor of Maryland, has decided to run for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee and is in talks with Newt Gingrich to win the former House speaker's endorsement, FOX News learned Tuesday.

Steele declined to comment, but a source close to the situation said Steele would announce his candidacy as early as Thursday.

The source also contradicted a report in Tuesday's Washington Times that Steele and Gingrich were competing for the RNC post.

"There is no fight," the source said. "This tension between Michael Steele and Newt Gingrich is totally fabricated and, in fact, Gingrich and Steele are working together to create a new strategy for the direction of the GOP."

...people are not intelligent enough to understand Newt’s “Contract with America”.

But they are intelligent enough to understand when he divorced his sick wife for a new model during the Clinton impeachment hearings...Dumb and immoral move.

The retro tax increase and Hillary care too, don’t forget that....

We can only hope that 0bama is as stupid and reckless in pushing his lefty agenda, as Clinton was the first two years in office.

The average American has no frkn clue how liberal Obama is, and they forget too how much they hate liberalism. Ok, so after 8 yrs, they’ll get another chance to taste what PC liberal idiotism is all about.

I sure as heck hope that like 1994, that the GOP has some coherent, aggressive and unified message that will attract not just new voters, but get the party faithful to show up in a big way.

I disagree with you there, the Contract With America was everywhere, it was even in the middle of TV Guide, democrats were on TV every day calling it the contract ON America.

I do know Newt...he’s into the man made global warming cult. I have more problems with that carbon points crap, and people losing their livelihoods because of it, than someone “needing” an assault rifle.

As a fellow resident, I respectfully dissent. Steele is a fine conservative. Now Ehrlich is not as conservative.

Newt however imperfect is brilliant, articulate and has instant recall.

Steele is a moderate and not nearly as steel minded.
no pun intended

Believe me that was bluster. Steele is solid pro-life orthodox Catholic.

“Michael Steele will be the final stake in the heart of Reaganism.”

Quite the opposite. You’ll see.

Hmmm, well, if it helps, remember that Steele was accused of practicing law when he read his sister's divorce papers (she was married to Mike Tyson), as a brother, not a lawyer. He shut the Beltway Media up by saying, go file the Board on Professional Responsibility complaint, but I am NOT going to be less than a concerned, loving brother to my sister.

Steele also has had his closets pretty thoroughly searched, even by those breaking the law to do so (remember the non-reported breaking of laws to see his financial or driving records?) by nasty Dems.

To be a person of color and to stand up to the evil, nasty, racist behaviour of all those who are on the Dem Plantation, speaks to a person of serious character, if you ask me.

AWB - that does concern me, though.

I don’t dislike him I just see him as a color pick....color picks have always been the bane of FR

I always applaud blacks who are remotely conservative, it’s harder for them than me...a white native of the magnolia state

but...I won’t pander

I realize that. Newt is also CFR and a closet globalist. However, did you see him EVISCERATE the reporter who was trying to badmouth Palin? Wow, left his steaming entrails on the floor in a flat 45 seconds. I can't control the climate battle, that is in God's hands. But, you trash the 2nd Amendment, you're lining up with Obama. You sure you're on the right forum?

I like Newt, he is articulate and a genius when it comes to the Constitution, I was thinking someone younger might be better. Newt has too much baggage.

As for the 2nd Amendment, I'm all for it, but would not choose a candidate, or head of the RNC, based on whether or not he approves of assault rifles. They are only good for one purpose and it has nothing to do with hunting or self-defense under normal circumstances.

I hope this works out. The one thing about Newt is he knows how to win. I don’t know if Michael Steele does

That would be a big fat NO. He has never won anything. He was elected as LT. Governor of MD, but the real reason that ticket won was Robert Elrlich (former Governor).
