If Barr's votes had gone to Palin and her running mate they would have won North Carolina and Indiana. North Carolina: Obama 49.9%, Palin 49.5%, Barr 0.6$ Indiana Obama 49.9%, Palin 49%, Barr 1.1% This would have been more important in a closer election, but it caught my interest when I looked the figures up.
“..excuses are for losers...”
if we are to ever get in the winners circle again, we had better examine carefully reason we have lost and correct them in the future.
Poor candidate is, of course, the primary reason, but don’t stop there. - try poor organization, no grass root efforts, ineffective RNC, etc.
Yep. And don’t sit around blaming some faceless “They” for the fact that we, as voters, failed.
We’ve got to educate our fellow Americans, not sit around deluding ourselves that if we’d only get the “right” candidate, and if he’d only say all the “right” things, he’ll magically make people who want free cotton candy (even if they have to become slaves to get it) want broccoli (and freedom) instead.
No, just people like you
I agree. The first group WE need to reform is the GOP. After that it’s non-stop re-education of the American public.
I don't disagree with this, but it doesn't change the facgt that we are a two party nation. Losertarians are either a non-factor or they are spoilers who help Democrats, as Barr did for Obama in Indiana and North Carolina.
We are talking at cross-purposes here.
Let’s call it a day.
Only the choice to try to play spoiler. Nevada could have been a very close state. In the previous two elections, Bush won Nevada by very close margins, and all indications were that this year it would also be close. There was absolutely no excuse for voting Losertarian in Nevada.
How clever!
I have repeatedly said that *focusing* on the candidate is delusional.
If we don’t do the hard work I’ve described elsewhere, it will make no difference who the candidate is once the socialist ball really gets rolling in this country.
The GOP doesn’t nominate our candidate, we do. And I don’t say it doesn’t matter who the candidate is.
I am saying that is *not all there is to it* and it is useless and harmful to proceed as if it is.
Good day.
With each successive election, the Libertarians do worse. In few years they’ll be celebrating double digits, and I’m not talking percentages.
So what did the Republican Party do with Ron Paul & his followers? They kicked him (and them) out of the tent, and wouldn't let Paul speak at the Republican Convention (among other things).
Did anyone think about the fact that we were throwing out the most Internet savvy, the best grassroots organizing, the best fund-raising, the youngest and most dynamic people in this whole election? I'm sure that a lot of them voted for 0.
If you are saying that it’s most important to work at the grassroots and change hearts and minds, I strongly agree. But the Party lost because we didn’t nominate a pro-freedom candidate, not because the people simply didn’t understand the importance of voting for McCain.
To bad we still can’t extricate ourselves from the mentality that fighting Bush’s War is the most important issue of our day.
Well put. Back in the day, the difference between a Social Democrat/Socialist like Helmut Schmidt and a Communist/Marxist like Erich Honecker meant life or death for a lot of people. People have gotten sloppy in applying these terms nowadays. It's all pretty self-indulgent and silly.
I love all these “conservatives” telling me that I have to vote for their candidate.
I voted Palin for VP.
To all of you commie Republocrats, I’ve got my vote and a gun I know how to use to defend my right to vote for the candidate of my choice.
COME AND TAKE IT.
I’ll stick to American democracy. Move to Cuba. There you only have to choose between one of one. That way you know you’re always choosing the best of your options.
After this election....."You libertarians are all worthless, dope-smoking, smelly losers. Get out of our party and our forum, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."
After the next election......"Hey, how come the libertarians didn't vote GOP this time around??"
There aren’t enough Losertarians to help GOP candidates. Eitehr they are non-factors or they are spoliers who help Democrats. Not good either way.
Are we talking about the same person whom John McCain characterized as a decent man, and someone whom we need not fear as President? Or did you have a different Obama in mind??
