... The Republicans who worked most closely with Palin the ones who were with her from when she first walked into that swooning Ohio basketball arena in August until she walked off the stage after McCains concession speech in Phoenix Tuesday are now having their say in that conversation.
And they want it known that theyre sick of Sarah Palin being dragged through the mud.

Did McCain aides expect Gov. Palin to do ALL of the heavy lifting? She energized the base for him. Getting Dems, independents and RINOs was supposed to be McCain’s job.
I’m not joking when I say my TV has not turned to Fox News since Bill O and Cameron pulled that crap.
Has anyone considered that NONE of the aides said anything, and that the press is just making it up?
Agreed. I have had discussions with several Republicans who fail to undertand that voting for the bailout put the final nail in the coffin. If he had come to Washington and actually led the opposition to a bailout, then he could have survived. But the problem is that McCain is not an economic conservative; merely a (much) lighter version of where Obama wants to go. Voting against would have going against his own economic philosophy.
That's the way rino's are. It's the liberal side in them coming out.
If he doesn't step up to the plate tomorrow night on the Tonight show, it will tell me that you are right on the money.
Yes. I agree, that was a crucial pivot point. He drew attention to himself as if he was going to go to Washington and make a difference. Setting himself up that way he had to deliver the goods. Instead, he disappeared into the quagmire for a day or two. Harry Reid told the country that he was a nuisance and should just get out of the way. So he did.
When he surfaced at the debate he needed to announce a decisive response, a plan to get behind instead of the universally unpopular bailout. He muffed it badly, ended up looking like an indecisive go-along-get-along senator instead of a president.
NO more calls, please.
We have a WINNER!
...hey, joe, here's some factual content for you.
nope, not him. You miss!
So I've got the wrong guy? Your birth certificate contains a surprise, too?
Mine has not been sealed.
Probably because it’s coming from his “aide-de-camp”, Lindsey, who is probably tight with Carl.
Let's make it happen.
Never give up!
Good point.
But McCain was on fast track to give the election to Obama.
He said that Obama was a decent man who loved this country and that there is nothing to fear from a B. Hussein Presidency.
I think you're right. McCain and Palin have talked. I watched the entire MSNBC tape of her return to Juneau. Her feelings about John McCain are very real and show when she talks about him. She smiles, has nothing but praise and said in response to a question she loves that man. Her affection shows.
However, I do think in the beginning Sarah did appeal to many, many of the PUMAs, Rinos, and independents...then the lying-liberal-DNC-water-carrying-MSM started their hatchet job on her.
Good video. BTTT!
There is only one way for a Republican to get his word out unedited and unbiased. And that is to go on a national NON NEWS TV show like Jay Leno and make his case. Even then he will get slapped around some. But at least the audience can hear what is says.
Anyone with an I.Q. larger than their shoe size knows that McCain would not get a fair shake if he just called a press conference to try to defend Sarah. Are people really stupid enough to believe that he would? Some apparently are.
If McCain called a press conference the media would not cover it live. Then the press would write and broadcast stories that said:
"Despite the bad stories about Sarah Palin given to the press by McCain staffers, McCain today denied the stories are true.
Offering no evidence except his own word, McCain who apparently can not even keep his own staff from telling their opinions about Palin is trying to make people believe that Palin is intelligent and acutely aware of the world. McCain apparently hopes that people who watched her interviews with CBS and ABC have a short memory of the poor performance by Sarah Palin on those programs.
A Democrat spokesperson has been quoted as saying that much of the public and many in the McCain campaign believed that Palin was a negative joke on the American people. McCain can deny what his staff obviously thinks but most people not on the hard right will not believe him or her.
That is what the media would do with a McCain defense of Palin. They would spend the coverage time trashing both Palin and McCain. Didn't Freepers see any of the media's campaign coverage? Or did the biased coverage cause lots of FReepers to believe every word.
Some people on this site astound me. They scream and shout that the media is biased. When the Media try to take down someone with unnamed sources, YOU BELIEVE EVERY WORD THEY SAY. YOU BELIEVE THEIR UNNAMED SOURCES ARE WHO THE MEDIA IMPLIES THEY ARE. And when McCain does not fall into their set trap FREEPERS are angry with him.
The media would love to have McCain coming out to ineffectively defend what they think is a DUMB B*TCH. No matter what he said in that press conference the media coverage would make it ineffective.
When McCain does get unedited air time the right wing is mad as hell at McCain for not going on sooner.
Of course Leno is not going to put McCain on his show until the attacks on Palin have reached a fever pitch. He wants to put people on who will draw the biggest possible audience. That means McCain could not get on until days had passed. LENO does not care about Palin or McCain. He wants audience.
This attack on Sarah had started when McCain asked to be on Jay Leno. Leno, being no dummy, would not put McCain on until it was a big news story.
McCain had two options. Go before the media and have his defense of Palin turn into a put down of both he and Palin or wait until it was big enough story for Leno to put him on TV.
Ask yourself what would you have done?
