Among Oklahomans, Mr. Cook and Mr. White are hardly alone. Though the states Democrats still outnumber its Republicans, you would never know it by looking at the election results. Oklahoma voters went for Senator John McCain by almost two to one, bucking the tide that swept Mr. Obama to the presidency. Not a single one of the states 77 counties backed Mr. Obama, despite his endorsement by the popular Democratic governor, Brad Henry. ...
Indeed, the state has a political landscape closely resembling that of the old solidly Democratic South, especially in its southeastern corner, known as Little Dixie, where many Southerners settled after the Civil War. When conservatives of the Old South began abandoning the party decades ago, Oklahomas Democrats lagged behind the historical trend. Further, the state has relatively small black and Hispanic populations, and so the Democrats did not absorb as many new voters from those groups as in the states of the old Confederacy.
These days Oklahoma Democrats dread running for local office in presidential election years, for fear of being associated with liberal nominees at the top of the ticket.
Being liberal in Oklahoma, with the exception of a few legislative districts, will not get you elected, said State Representative Joe Dorman, a conservative Democrat.

That would be 89 of 95. Hee Hee.
I think it’s safe to say that McCain has NO CHANCE for reelection in Arizona 2010. It won’t matter if Satan himself is running against him. His opponent was the antichrist and McCain only got 53% in AZ. Both Obama and Palin won 61+% in their respective home states.
That’s my hometown. My dad drinks coffee in that cafe with some of those men. He was Republican when Republican wasn’t cool. He’s still to the right of Goldwater and Reagan. :-)
Oklahoma also has two of the best senators in the country: Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn.

I'm from CA and I love that song too!
"...a place where even squares can have a ball...and white lightning's still the greatest thrill of all..."
I’m stuck here in moonbat controlled Oregon. We’re thinking of moving and I’ve got my eye on OK. SW Missouri is also on my short list. My husband and I are looking to start up a small business soon (can’t be too successful though) and need to find a good, conservative place with low taxes.
The funny thing about trying to make us Southern Democrats is that we were not a state until 1907 so we were not involved as a State in the Civil War. The south never claims us. We are in the heart of Middle America with a large Native American population. The Chief of the Cherokees is a Republican.
89 of 95.
My friend works for the Cherokees. I guess the CEO endorsed Obama saying it was better for the casinos for poor people to have money, they would go and waste it in the casinos.
On the one hand I find that kind of preying on people a terrible thing, on the other I admire the blunt honesty of it.

Oklahomans are also protecting their state by passing one of the toughest anti-illegal immigrant bills in the past year or two. What I would give to live amongst like-minded people right now!! I’m working/living in San Francisco right now...imagine the horror.
I thought your rally cry was “own the center” - that doesn’t sound very conservative to me.
My hubby says I’m such a nerd for loving that song. *LOL* I sing it all the time. My favorite lines:
We don’t make a party out of lovin’;
We like holdin’ hands and pitchin’ woo;
We don’t let our hair grow long and shaggy,
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.
And I’m proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin’s still the biggest thrill of all.
Nobody was going to dislodge Henry in ‘06. Istook I’m surprised even decided to give up a safe seat to do a kamikaze run. I wouldn’t be so harsh towards him.
Please make room for me when I retire in 20 years. PA is a lost cause anymore. What are your gun laws like?
There were quite a few states out of the 20+ we took where the result was 2 to 1 or more Republican.
All is not lost, I hope.
Republican Blue is a much better color. Too much Red Rodent Communist in this election elsewhere.
Make room in San Francisco?? You can have my spot. I’m not from Oklahoma, unfortunately.
I like your blue-state agenda. It’s is true.
LOL, sorry about that. Of course I meant OK ;^) The Treasury doesn’t print enough dough to get me to move to NJ, let alone CA!
