(CNN) — Randy Scheunemann, a senior foreign policy adviser to John McCain, was fired from the Arizona senator's campaign last week for what one aide called "trashing" the campaign staff, three senior McCain advisers tell CNN.
One of the aides tells CNN that campaign manager Rick Davis fired Scheunemann after determining that he had been in direct contact with journalists spreading "disinformation" about campaign aides, including Nicolle Wallace and other officials....

I continue to be fascinated by the parrallels between this election and the election in 1976 that elected Jimmy Carter. The Ford campaign was very bitter about his rival Ronald Reagan's run for President that Ford felt cost him the election. They too criticized him heavily after the election. So, we now have a Democrat (taking Obama at his word on that one, cough) who wants to raise taxes in a time of economic insecurity and a Conservative challenger, though not the candidate for President, who is being blamed by the Republican establishment for their loss. The possibilities are intriguing. Hopefully, these parallels will contine through 2012.
We need a leader to step forward. Not a politician. Palin is a leader. She has proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt to my mind and she deserves the shot at the Presidency, particularly given the level of insanity that was/is being directed at her. There may be others out there as well but she is the most prominent for the moment. Adversity tends to bring leaders forth so, here's hoping that this time will not be an exception.
Oh, and for the conspiracy theorists out there who wanted to pin this discord on Romney, Scheunemann worked for the McCain camp throughout the primaries and the general election. He was the aide that insisted that Romney was for "timetables" in Iraq, a claim that nearly everyone dismissed as an utter fabrication.
Fired him last week, but he still may be the sources of the smears. We don’t know when they tracked him down, it may have been a quick zot.
Another RINO bites the dust. “We will name them, and we will make them famous.” RINO’s, move back to the country of Africa to bask in the sun and keep out of our hair.
Yeah, fire someone for trashing Nicolle Whoever and remain silent while your friggin’ running mate is trashed.
Just a note for reference, when running a campaign (or anything else), no one hire this man.

Maybe FR should open up an on-line RINO Hall of Fame. Induct about 20 initially and then hold an election from time to time. “We will name them and we will make them famous”
Why is this even news? I thought the entire McCain camp was fired by the US electorate.
But I read an article this morning on FR that says he’s still answering his phone at the campaign and claims not to have been fired.
Makes me wonder if these anonymous sources are making it all up.
Let me guess: This Scheunemann clown is Carl Cameron’s best friend.
Actually, there’s a link within the story on CNN’s page that leads to a story that says the campaign new about Scheunemann for weeks but instead of firing him they just cut off his email and confiscated his Blackberry. Kinda lame but, I suppose firing someone that late in the campaign would have been seen as an admission of weakness.
Governor Palin is like a young Michael Jordan. The talent is there, and just needs to be developed. That, along with the need to place a good team around her.
Then she can be a true superstar.
You just gotta love team players.
So you think Palin shouldn’t have had someone helping her against the smears other campaign aides were/have made?
Read the damn story. You mistakenly believe this man was the ass who passed on the negative Palin disinformation to Carl Cameron.
Read before you type. McCain fired a Palin supporter a week ago and didn’t do a damn thing to the true bad guys.
I wonder what other campaigns he may be connected to, Mitt?
That’s entirely possible.
On Fox they said he was the guy defending her and was very close to her. So I’m confused.
I don’t know. I’m thinking this guy is not David Stockman or Paul O’Neill. Sounds more like he’s one of us who didn’t like how the McCain campaign handcuffed Sarah and had a terrible message.
His bio looks very good. Maybe we’ve got it wrong, as another poster said. Maybe (duh) McCain is the RINO.
No connections to other candidates. See my first comment.
