Yep, it seems as though the “political GOP professionals” don't like Palin as they can't control her and they have their ow “stable of candidates” anyhow. The party establishment has got to destroy her and any supporters. That's my take anyhow.

What does this mean?

The story is that he defended her by telling to the media about the infighting she was facing in the campaign. He was initially fired, but then was unfired by McCain almost immediately when he found out about it.
