A few years ago some media talking head claimed, after a GOP victory, that America threw a temper tantrum.

I think America threw a temper tantrum On Nov. 4.

Interesting. I noticed exactly the same thing on the Long Island Railroad, yesterday. It was as quiet as I have found it to be in 10 years of commuting (except for the ride home on 9-11, and the morning after the Yankees lost the 2001 World Series).

No blacks or liberal whites were celebrating and no conservatives were complaining or grumbling. I didn’t hear a word about the election, and the faces of the black rider the train and at the station seemed somber, rather than joyous.

The mood was similar today. People were a bit more chatty, but I didn’t hear any political talk at all.

The looks on peoples’ faces actuallly reminded me a bit of the blank stares I saw as I made my way north out of the Financial District on 9-11.

I’m not if it is fear over what the nation has done in electing Comrade Obama, or if it is just people not wanting to offend people on the opposite side from them, but is was weird.

Saw this at the gym yesterday as I was surrounded by what should be Obama supporters. IMO they are letting it sink in and dreaming of paying themselves for slavery, taking money from those who have it, God knows what else.

The only person I saw jubilant that Obama ‘won’ was a certain moron co-worker of mine who often calls out ‘sick’ so she can go to the mall.
She’d even screamed herself hoarse over it.

I went for a few beers after work and played the lottery.

Unusual for 3PM in a small working mans saloon type bar in Monroe NY the place was full, not an empty stool.

Mostly union construction workers who commute to NYC and local business people who just didn't feel like working.

It was eerily quiet, a somber mood hung in the air.
Depression.

The news channels were on, and every once in a while
“I don't believe it” was muttered.

I've never seen anything like it.

I steeled myself for one of my part-time workers who always gives me cr@p about my politics. He’s an IT guy for the ‘Publik Screwels’ in his day job and a more brainwashed person you’ll never find.

He didn’t gloat at all about the election yesterday, which surprised the hell out of me. He said, “How are you doing today?” I said, “I’m jubilant! Now that the Dems are completely in charge, we can FINALLY blame THEM for everything!”

He just laughed.

I think most of the commuters commuting to New York City know that Wall Street will shed up to 125,000 jobs. The last vestige of the gated community who always have a job providing finance, legal contracts, selling stocks of companies that plan to move factories into the US or move US factories/jobs overseas or buy each other out. Life is good for them in the last ten years, while people on Main Street had to cope with the change caused by the business deals they help set up and finance. Now the bubble has burst as highly leveraged schemes collapse under the subprime mortgage bust and people on Wall Street will join the millions of regular Americans who must cope with cycles of employment and unemployment caused by the globalist decisionmakers in corporate offices. With over one trillion dollars in negative equity, the borrow and finance consumer economy has ended and the lost decade has begun. That is why there is silence on your train. Obama’s election did not help improve the prospects either.

I haven't turned one of our TVs on since I turned it off election night. The places I went yesterday, not one word of the election except in the yarn shop where the owner very quietly asked me what I thought (knowing I'm conservative like she is). She said she was really scared of what is coming. One of my students that came in said shes has a headache since the returns came in. My liberal student didn't even show up or call.

All my neighbors and family who called before the returns were worried sick, I haven't heard from a single one since.

I heard and saw high school age punks walking up and down the street for a bit banging cowbells and shouting some gibberish about obamalamadingdong after the election was called for him.

I live in Boulder, a very liberal town. At the coffee shop yesterday no-one was talking about the election. It was eerily quiet.

It was like the wake after a funeral... I think that people are waking up with buyer's remorse.

When I went to the doctor’s office yesterday, the staff was subdued. The black nurses looked very wary.

I think they’re afraid of a backlash against blacks. (We are a red state.)

I honestly hope and pray that this doesn’t happen.

But I do think we’re better than that. After 9-11 we didn’t get a huge rash of crimes against Middle Easterners.

But I can understand why they’d be concerned.

At lunch in our favorite Chinese restaurant, the business was way down - like less than a 1/2 crowd for a Wednesday. Everyone was just sitting around with glum faces with almost no conversation.

The very noticeable exceptions were the illegal alien workers who come to eat the Mexican buffet bar. They were positively gleeful. They know they will get amnesty soon and they'll control this stupid Gringo country with their massive numbers of votes. For them, the Gravy Train will soon roll in and they know it. So, they had raucous laughter, animated conversations (in Spanish) and smug looks all around. ICE will soon be owned by them.

Lest you thing all of New York is liberal, I was in a Long Island restaurant as the returns were coming in. Everyone, that’s right, everyone except for one 17 year old busboy was horrified.

Although Obama won Nassau County overall, many towns went 2-1 for McCain, including my Mom’s town of Bethpage. They were overwhelmed though by the solid minority vote out of places like Hempstead and the white liberals from the more affluent communities.

As for the busboy, my date asked him if he would fight for the country if called upon and he hemmed and hawed. She told him “Wrong answer. You could not bring yourself to say yes. It’s no wonder you support Obama”. He got all pissed off and mumbled something about not agreeing with the Iraq war, but it was obvious that he knew he had been busted.

In Watsonville they started shooting off fireworks when McCain conceded, to celebrate bringing down the United States without firing a shot. It reminded me of Palestinian Muslims dancing in the streets on Sept. 11, 2001.

Liberals are quiet because they don't know how to act or what to say. All their programming has been for getting elected. They are waiting for their media talking points on how to speak now because they generally don't know how in the world to lead or what comes next.

Conservatives are quiet becaue of the Atlas Shrugged syndrome. Many are toying with the idea of sitting back and watching the fools make a mess of things for 4 years. It is a very tempting prospect to give the libs zero help or ideas on how to solve problems. Except on defense matters of course. Keep the troops and homeland safe.

Does anyone here think that maybe Obama inadvertently said something during his victory speech that broke the hypnotic spell he had cast over so many ... making them wake up Nov 5 wondering just what exactly they had done? Just a thought. The silence here in Georgia has been deafening too.

Dead silence, downright gloom around here yesterday. Long faces everywhere.

We're resilient; today is a little better. We can laugh, but people still aren't at all happy about it.
