Obama's victory : Silence around you (testimonies)
November 06, 2008 | Robin Masters

Posted on 11/06/2008 5:55:13 AM PST by RobinMasters

In this thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2126850/posts?page=13) some people shared their experiences about what they saw after the Election.

Carley said : "You could see shock and awe on the faces of most people yesterday. The commuter train in NJ was filled with silent people, black and white, wondering just what they hell they had done.

The trip was eerily silent when it’s usually filled with people chatting away."

or jnygrl : "My husband takes NJ Transit. He said his train was silent yesterday until it stopped at Newark."

Please, feel free to share what you've experienced around you. It would be useful for some FReepers or others.

Wow. The consultant who advises our company was in on election day and had a similar story.

Obama was here the week before the election and a huge rally was planned. M says to his son...Obama will be here tonight.

The boy took off like a shot, running to his room.

M goes after him and says, hey, what are you doing?

Little wise one says I AM HIDING MY MONEY AND MY TOYS!

Lest you thing all of New York is liberal, I was in a Long Island restaurant as the returns were coming in. Everyone, that’s right, everyone except for one 17 year old busboy was horrified.

Although Obama won Nassau County overall, many towns went 2-1 for McCain, including my Mom’s town of Bethpage. They were overwhelmed though by the solid minority vote out of places like Hempstead and the white liberals from the more affluent communities.

As for the busboy, my date asked him if he would fight for the country if called upon and he hemmed and hawed. She told him “Wrong answer. You could not bring yourself to say yes. It’s no wonder you support Obama”. He got all pissed off and mumbled something about not agreeing with the Iraq war, but it was obvious that he knew he had been busted.

My best friend and I were talking about this.

We have had fears for a while, a WWIII type fear and even pontificated if we were reincarnated from WWII (on a crazy 15 year old sleepover night, hey, we were young!) because we both have this irrational feeling of ducking when we hear a single engine plane, even though we know that bombs wouldn’t come in this day and age in a B2 bomber.

But now we both feel like that feeling is coming to pass.

She is a vegetarian and didn’t like Palin’s hunting, but rationalizes that it is better than stall grown animals. However, Barack’s stance on girls in the Selective Service blew him out of the water for her. Also she is just starting a business. Her husband owns a business. They understand wealth redistribution well and want no part of it.

I turned off the TV when Ohio went down.
My daughter (15yr old) asked me if we could move to Canada.
I said no way it would be the same (who would have thunk it)
I said maybe Poland, They seem to be moving in good direction. Then explained it will be ok, anouther Reagan would come and remind America what makes this country great.

Then I played some SOCOM Confrontation on-line on the PS3. It was very bad, the racism and comments after Obama won were so bad I had to turn it off, 90% from Obama supporters.
Saw the end of the Obama speech, was kinda in shock.

But I will never be an Obama hater, and lower myself to all those who have hated President Bush. I will stand for preserving America any way I can, I will voice my disagreements when he is wrong but try to do it respectfully.

Maybe it was their way of reaching out to you, as a white woman. Like they felt almost apologetic or something.

I’m doing the same thing with some of my inlaws. It’s going to be different around the holidays for sure.

They have a Mexican buffet at a Chinese restaurant?

Yes. Odd, isn't it. They also have a Chinese buffet.

The owners are good entrepreneurs and have figured out the illegals will flock in to eat the Mexican food instead of the Chinese food and they do a very good business with it.

I don’t think there will be a backlash against blacks in red-states. I do think there will be a significant loss of jobs because Zerobama’s policies will not create wealth, only steal the wealth of those who have earned it. With loss of wealth will come job losses.

And, in red states, the front of the lines for job losses should be those who voted for Zerobama.

Blacks and liberals now have no one to blame. As the country tanks, they will have all the blame all to themselves.

“My sister-in-law called me and told me she was scared...AND SHE VOTED FOR HIM. It’s unprecedented, the idiocy of people in this election. The media did its job..they literally brainwashed people into voting for this guy.”

Barack Obama:

“My job is to be so persuasive that if there’s anybody left out there who is still not sure whether they will vote, or is still not clear who they will vote for, that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama”

America is waking up with a hangover, and rolling over to see what rough stranger now shares the bed.

You mean America has taken the ‘beer goggles’ off? Isn’t there a country song by that name? Maybe that should be the new national anthem during BO’s term.

I feel sick too.

I go back and forth between rage and numb. There’s a little bit of despair.

People are saying that this is how the Left felt when Bush won, but I don’t think it’s the same. When Bush won, there was a lot of paranoia, but most of it wasn’t based in reality. We weren’t rounded up into concentration camps. We didn’t loose our rights to free speech. We didn’t become a police state.

But Obama wants a civilian security force as well funded as the military. He TOLD us he’s raise our taxes and put the environment uber allis. He flat-out told us that our energy costs were going up and that he was going to bankrupt a key industry. He said he was going to change our constitution to a socialist document.

Hell, that was his platform!! Our fears are VERY real.

So when my heart won’t stop pounding out of my chest, when I’m throwing up off the front porch, when I can’t sleep - I HAVE DARN GOOD REASON.

In Watsonville they started shooting off fireworks when McCain conceded, to celebrate bringing down the United States without firing a shot. It reminded me of Palestinian Muslims dancing in the streets on Sept. 11, 2001.

Good post.

The Bible STILL has all the answers.
Prayer STILL works.

The basics did not change.

My sister-in-law called me and told me she was scared...AND SHE VOTED FOR HIM. It's unprecedented, the idiocy of people in this election. The media did its job..they literally brainwashed people into voting for this guy.

It's like a Vegas wedding.... including the unpleasant rash that comes soon after.

Folks are gonna rue the day, and I suppose that's a good thing. The question is: are we going to be ready to show them the road back to responsible citizenship?

That's our task for the next 4 years: we need to figure out what we stand for, how best to get the word out, and most of all we've got to find a candidate who can carry the banner. That will be tough: we haven't had one of those since Reagan -- and it's difficult to think of any others before him.

Our main problem is that people aren't comfortable with a lot of what they think "conservatism" stands for; and conservatives only make it worse by our tendency to answer actual human misery with philosophical arguments -- the left has been successfully using that against us for decades. In that sense, Bush43 was correct in calling for "compassionate conservatism;" the problem was (and is) that we can't offer any clear idea of what such an agenda that might entail.

So ... we've got our work cut out for us.
