Obama's victory : Silence around you (testimonies)
November 06, 2008 | Robin Masters

Posted on 11/06/2008 5:55:13 AM PST by RobinMasters

In this thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2126850/posts?page=13) some people shared their experiences about what they saw after the Election.

Carley said : "You could see shock and awe on the faces of most people yesterday. The commuter train in NJ was filled with silent people, black and white, wondering just what they hell they had done.

The trip was eerily silent when it’s usually filled with people chatting away."

or jnygrl : "My husband takes NJ Transit. He said his train was silent yesterday until it stopped at Newark."

Please, feel free to share what you've experienced around you. It would be useful for some FReepers or others.

When I went to the doctor’s office yesterday, the staff was subdued. The black nurses looked very wary.

I think they’re afraid of a backlash against blacks. (We are a red state.)

I honestly hope and pray that this doesn’t happen.

But I do think we’re better than that. After 9-11 we didn’t get a huge rash of crimes against Middle Easterners.

But I can understand why they’d be concerned.

“Seriously, are you getting the impression of racial threats?

FReepers, keep everyone posted.”

I don’t think so. I don’t know what to make of it. It’s something that has never happened before. I do know my kids were exposed to the “Evil Blue Eye” indoctrination in school at one point.

I just don’t know. It was so odd.

Maybe someone else with more insight can figure it out. It was just bizarre. It lacked context in a conversation or in any meaningful way.

Oh, no. I can’t ditch those friends. They are our special calling. I know that sounds weird, but they have been laid on our hearts - for years now we have been called to live out the Gospel in front of them.

And as I said - progress is being made! I will not give up!

Thank you for your prayers!

Move to Texas. No income tax. Solid red-state if you avoid the cities (especially Austin).

Noticed all the post election silence as well. I wonder if its possible all those nobama voters were just making a protest vote and thought enough McCainiacs would prevail only to get slapped in the face with the reality of “their coyote date”.

At lunch in our favorite Chinese restaurant, the business was way down - like less than a 1/2 crowd for a Wednesday. Everyone was just sitting around with glum faces with almost no conversation.

The very noticeable exceptions were the illegal alien workers who come to eat the Mexican buffet bar. They were positively gleeful. They know they will get amnesty soon and they'll control this stupid Gringo country with their massive numbers of votes. For them, the Gravy Train will soon roll in and they know it. So, they had raucous laughter, animated conversations (in Spanish) and smug looks all around. ICE will soon be owned by them.

My sister-in-law called me and told me she was scared...AND SHE VOTED FOR HIM. It's unprecedented, the idiocy of people in this election. The media did its job..they literally brainwashed people into voting for this guy.

I had the most surreal conversation with two women I know last night. I wanted to pull my hair out. The were both positively giddy at the Obama win. Like their actual lives were about to change. One idiot said that she was proud because she comes from a family of bigots and racists and she finally broke the cycle. Shocked, I asked her to name me ONE thing, pomise, policy Obama offered that she agrees with. OF course, she had no answer. I asked her if she realized that voting for someone PURELY BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN is the very definition of racism, all I got was a blank stare..and then back to the joy...THEY DON'T CARE. They are part of the "groupthink" That old, psychological phenomenon that people will do things they know they shouldn't if the are part of a group.

After speaking to these women I realized what we are up against and, unfortunately, we must appeal to people's emotions when we are running, because people appear not to give a crap about issues anymore. I don't think they even understand issues anymore, they are that dumb.

Heh, we’re you referring to coyote ‘chew’?

Haven’t heard that expression since my college years. Thanks for the chuckle.

I have a wide array of contacts who are pretty well mixed as politics go. There’s generally a political article or cartoon sent, a reply to all and then a free for all argument. The contact group spans many states and districts. Yesterday.....NO CONTACT....NONE. Not one email lamenting the election, not one celebrating the election, no gloating, no ANYTHING. It was bizare.

And it’s becoming a mantra among the Obamites that *all* of us “come together and support Barack”.

Yes in my local liberal rag, the comments are all about ceasing the rancor, all getting together for 'our' president, that 'our' president needs the support of us all...

Sorry, I'll just extend, tenfold, the same type courtesy, the same type cooperation, the same type support our present president experienced for the last 8 years.

Curious how this 2008 election was now considered legitimate, that the will of the people was truthfully expressed, whereinas the previous two presidential elections were considered illegal, illegitimate, stolen.

Allow me to practice my 2009/2012 mantra...

Obama lied, poor people died...
It's Obama's fault...
Obama deserted his campaign promises...
It's Obama's fault
Obama's cabinet is full of multi millionaires...
It's Obama's fault
Obama is beholden to special interests...
It's Obama's fault
Obama is beholden to foreign interests...
It's Obama's fault...
Change???..why these people are Clinton retreads!!!

It was the same in Las Vegas. I was expecting mini-Obama rallies all over the place, but not a thing. You wouldn't even know an election had taken place the day before. Leading me to believe people didn't so much vote for Obama as against having to hear about the Iraq war and the economy any more, as if by punishing Bush's party they could make it all go away.

Or maybe people are starting to intuitively understood that their votes don't really count anymore - they are just voting on a slate of candidates pre-selected by the Powers That Be for their willingness to comply with The Agenda (they hadn't screened Sarah - McCain pissed them off with that pick). Ron Paul was the only guy who generated any genuine enthusiam around here.

Somehow, I think Queen Elizabeth is not planning on a state visit to the US in the next four years.

Unfortunately even here in Arizona I met alot of older white people who voted for him. I'm talking Republicans too...#1 reason? Hate Bush. The media has so beaten down this country that people just want the media to stop. I think psychologically people knew that the media would lighten up if Obama won and that's what they want, and it didn't matter how they go there.

Everyday we're told how the world hates us..along comes the guy and those same people tell us the world will love us...if you don't follow this stuff and you still believe we have a press that's on our side, what would you think?

Oh, that was a racist remark. Next time it happens, call them on it. Say, “That is a racist remark, I thought we had put racism behind us.”

I have been congratulating them and encouraging them to lead the nation. They seem really uneasy with it. They won’t have anyone to blame. They’ve had someone to blame for 14 years, whether it was Bush, Gingrich or the Republicans in general. This is the first time they have no one to scream at.

They’ll find a boogeyman somewhere I guess. Racist groups fueled by Hate Radio or something.

I saw the illegal garbage acting pretty much the same way at the local wal mart on 09/11/2001.It’s like they were reveling in being the only people in the store NOT in a somber mood. I honestly can’t decide who I loathe the absolute most : EUrotrash obamaniacs, moslems of any nationality or ethnicity, the inner city thug element in this country, or the illegals infesting it.

Hey! We’re in the same town! My experience mirrors your experience. I’m equally numb because Hall was re-elected. He’s as radical as the one. Money machine was big factor in CD 19.

Poor thing. It’s like she is Elizabeth Hasslebeck of her class.

And those who make fun of her for being a wimpy conservative... I always ask if they would mind getting the flack she gets and if they would be a strong as her for sticking up even though she gets hell everyday.
