VANITY: ATLAS BARFED
vanity | 11/5/08 | VigilantAmerican

Posted on 11/05/2008 6:31:05 PM PST by VigilantAmerican

I'm too sick and disgusted and exhausted to write the body of my post at this time, due to the triumph of socialism in last night's election of an anti-American, affirmative action, Muslim terrorist-loving President.

I just wanted to be the first Freeper on the block to use that phrase, to post that title before anybody else also thought of it, and then slouch off to bed to read while a few of you perhaps comment on ideas for developing my article, which I threaten to write later if enough of you help encourage me!

Highly esoteric Randian humor, there...

And who would have thought Rynd could be erotic?

I said esoteric, freedumb!

She tries to hint at being erotic at times and at length, but it’s too tame & I’m too jaded to take her attempts at it very seriously.

Ouch.

Now, to change the topic, can ducks count?

Think about it - a mother duck knows if one of her ducklings is missing, and gets upset.

So, it is possible, the mother duck counts 1 ... n-1, and comes up short.

But it is also possible, the mother duck has created an unordered set in her head, and notices that an element of the set is missing - the ducklings she sees do not include the element of her set, “Bob”.

This is fascinating stuff.

Having thought of that, it occured to me that ducks do math.

They recognize “<” - it is smaller than me, I shall eat it.

Also, “>” - It is bigger than me, I shall flee, lest it eat me.

Also, congruent - “another female duck, go away”

And, similar - “Hey, a MALE duck!”

Come to think of it, ducks are more sophisticated in math that a lot of people.

So all that detail she went into about laying down Rearden metal so they could run a train was actually about the rail road industry??? All this time!

I like this. I am posting a vanity, which I shouldn’t. And, on top of it, the vanity is to let you know I am not going to post my actual vanity because I am too annoyed to do it right now.

Is there a host around the moon where you are by any chance?

Ya’ll are making me wish I hadn’t quit coming here for a couple of years. I’d have never forgotten my original log-in and I’d get away with anything because I’d have an old date show up when you moused over my nick. That’s what I get for relying on an automatic sign-in program for web sites I guess.

Of course, given the psycho that was stalking me after finding me here at the time, leaving for a while was the right thing to do. She was downright scary.

Been there.

Good to see you -- its been a while.

A back-handed thanks, I think...but I don’t think I’m cool enough to know exactly what “a host around the moon” is...

I said esoteric, freedumb!

Esoteric is just one letter away from erotic. Oh, and a couple of misplaced vowels. And a removed letter or two. And an extra syllable that needs to be ditched.

Other than that, the confusion is quite understandable.

I do miss having what would now be an extremely old join date (1998), and it kind of sucks being called noob just because I dare oppose the view of someone who joined in 2006 or earlier. I also miss getting to call someone who plays the noob card noob when they’re being an ass to a newer member for no good reason.

I do not miss having the stalker that was harassing me by phone sending emails every time I commented. There’s definitely a reason I avoid the singles thread.

Interesting idea but I think you are using the wrong model. rather than putting it into the Counting Domain, thinkof it as a Set Domain.

Mama Duck has n chicks. In her mind she establishes a pattern — set (A) -— which contains n objects. The actual “count” doesn’t matter — it is a template. When she is ready to move, she mentally establishes a “current” set (B) which contains all visible matches to what she perceives as “chicks.”

In establishing to her satisfaction that all chicks are present and accounted for, she matches (A) to (B), probably through instinctive relational subtraction. If (A) == (B), she is happy and off she goes to cross the highway and get run over. Should (A) ~= (B), then she begins to search, instantiating new elements to (B) until she gets the pattern match [(A) == (B)] or her instinct makes her leave, at which point she establishes a new template set (A).

LOL - singles thread? FR has a singles thread?

What stalkers? Never met one.

(Actually, the anti-freep sites scared the piss out of me, when first pointed out. But then, someone said, if you are going to spend your life worrying about who is gossiping about you on the internet..you won’t have time for much else.

So screw them, if they have no other life. Poor people, probably have low IQ’s.
