Failed candidates have a hard enough time - seems as though the party is napalming Palin and salting the earth where she stands. Unfortunately I think she’s done as a national candidate.

That is what they said about Nixon when he lost his presidential bid in 1960 and again 1962 when he lost his bid for Governor of California.

“zero white blood in Jindal?”

If you mean “white” by skin color only, then Jindal isn't white, but than neither are olive skinned Mediterraneans. If you mean “white” as synonymous with Caucasoid, than Jindal is not only white, but a true aryan.

this is the kind of thinking that got us McCain.. There is no one that is 100% perfect.. We got to find good solid leaders not perfect conservative saints on every issue. Jindal, Palin and Steele is the people when need to look at for the future.

but there would be jindal vs palin in the GOP primary debate. Jindal would....probably win.

As one born, raised and living in Louisiana, Jindal has his problems, too.

In fact, he barely escaped utter embarrassment this past session over his refusal to veto a pay raise for legislators. He finally vetoed the bill after a recall petition was started and gained speed.

In addition, Jindal passed a "ethics bill" in a special session earlier this year and was then promptly found to have violated it himself. Also, the law has had to be tweaked because much of it would not have passed legal muster.

He's sharp, but he talks way too fast for most people to understand him and he has a lot to learn about being a true conservative.

Jindal had an opportunity to lower or get rid of LA’s State Income tax a few months ago. He didn’t want to do anything. After much pressure, he eventually lowered it. He could of gotten rid of it for good.

No, no, no. Louisiana has not had an income tax in my lifetime. He could not possibly have lowered something that did not exist. That's kind of like Obama giving tax rebates to people who don't pay tax.

Agreed. Jindal converses with pinpoint accuracy and fluency on all of our issues. He’s phenomenal.

Bobby Jindal has a rare gift even among politicians with rare gifts!

Tucker, as in Jim Tucker, Republican speaker of the House in LA. The one Jindal was dealing with regarding the pay raises.

I would have to know a lot more about the situation than that to call him a RINO. What other circumstances were involved, the pros and the cons? In what manner did he have that chance? Did the Legislature pass a bill that only needed his signature? The Governor can't raise and lower or eliminate taxes on his own.

When Jindal first ran for Governor in 2003, Bayou Dems started a whispering campaign about Jindal being a Muslim to rural Baptists. The polls showed Jindal leading Blanco, 47-44. When the votes were counted, Jindal lost 52-48. The undecideds broke for the white Cajun woman. Jindal was a victim of the Wilder effect. However, Blanco mishandled Katrina and the rural folks overcome their old views and supported Jindal in 2007.

I lived in Baton Rouge for this election and voted for Jindal. It was such a sickening feeling when Blanco won (like the election last night). You knew the more qualified candidate lost and there was nothing you could do about it. I think Blanco was even surprised she won!

Did Nixon have nearly the negative baggage as does Palin now?

I hope she has a future on the national stage - had hoped she’d be an American Thatcher - but 1962 is an entirely different world than today.

When he lost the Calif. Governor race in 1962, Nixon said "You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore"
