Rush Limbaugh: Time to cleanse Republican Party
World Net Daily ^ | 11/5/08

Posted on 11/05/2008 1:23:02 PM PST by truthandlife

Radio host Rush Limbaugh, the loudest conservative voice in American politics , today blasted John McCain's presidential campaign as weak and said Barack Obama's election as president is an opportunity to purge the Republican Party of candidates who abandon conservative principles.

"McCain's whole campaign was a concession speech," said Limbaugh in his post-election analysis. "We've now demonstrated to everyone how to lose."

Limbaugh dismissed any notion that victories by Democrats in the White House and Congress meant a repudiation of right-leaning principles.

Limbaugh explained conservatism was not on the ballot.

"We haven't been on the ballot since 1994," he said, noting that if Republicans wanted to win elections, they should not put so-called "moderates" on the ballot.

"The conservative movement does not need to be rebuilt," he said. "We had some people abandon the conservative movement, and they need to be abandoned."

The broadcaster called last night's results "an opportunity for cleansing ... like we haven't seen in a long time."

Yep. Many of us have been saying this since 2006. Laura Ingraham also went off today about this.

The majority of the Sheep have said differently - with votes. The Sheep WANT Socialism, and they have handed the country over.

They hope that is the real reason and not the demographic shift toward minority coalitions that want more Government programs.

The only way to fix this is to end open primaries. Too many dems crossed over in initial voting so conservatives were taken out and we were left with mccain.

That’s nice Rush is blaming us. I still say that it is the GOP - emphasis on OLD that didn’t support the republican candidate. If any candidate doesn’t meet ALL standard of a republican then they are rejected and not even considered. Until that attitude changes we are in for a long miserable ride. My case in point, McCain was not supported in the same way that obama was by his party.

“Limbaugh explained conservatism was not on the ballot. We haven’t been on the ballot since 1994.”

#########

A concise encapsulation of what was manifested at the polls yesterday.

Sarah Palin gave us a spectacular glimmer of conservatism but she arrived at 11:59.

I disagree. The choices this election, and, indeed, many recent elections, have been between socialism and socialism-light. Bush carried many conservative principles into office. However, there were many socialistic ones as well (immigration, bailout, etc.). Given those choices, the electorate is not repudiating conservativism...only embracing the lesser evil. I think that if the ‘Cuda was at the top of the ticket, we may have seen a different turnout...

I’m curious as to how true conservatives did nationwide. I know in Indiana, Mike Pence and Mitch Daniels won by huge margins. I wonder if this is true nationwide, or just a local thing.

A starting place? A party that can punish those that stray, like Oly Snowe.

Publicly reject any defections (can you say “cloture vote”?) and say that campaign money is on the line, party support would be withdrawn a the local level.

And carry through to the local level...we’re gunning for YOU Judy Bah Too-pinko!

We need to stop listening to the radio, too, and build a conservative party. Radio talk is mostly a bunch of hooey. Nothing strategic about it; just complaining and fist pounding. Crap like Operation Chaos, nothing but ratings building.

I just unsubscribed to the RINO Party’s emailings and will not contribute or volunteer for them again ever. Will be going elsewhere and making the best of it.

Right. The people weren’t fooled, not to that extent. They might not have grasped anything else about that one, but they heard one thing loud and clear-that he’s going to take from the producers to give to the parasites-and they like it. Decades of indoctrination have done their work, people from every walk have an entitlement mentality, and freedom and the rights of the individual are just sounds to them. Liberty and the right to live your life as you please, and take the consequences, are concepts that leave a blank look on their faces. None moreso than the younger generation believe this, and they are the future. I’ve never been so glad to be middle-aged, my one hope now is that it doesn’t get too bad before my allotted time is up. The young’uns will have to live in the world they think they want.

This is my post from another thread:

I am GLAD Obama won. We were all up against a FANTASY with pitching people on believing McCain could be something that the libs (and apparently some conservatives)were convinced only the other guy had.

Well, yesterday, the fantasy died and reality was born. Now, instead of libs calling us liars when we say Obama is an ill equipped, socialist, culture of death, America hater they get to find out first hand. And it isn’t going to be pretty. But this is the ONLY way truth will be seen. That the scales come off the eyes and the deception falls away.

This is our chance to rewrite and redefine what conservatism really means. This is our chance to get a Ronnie Reagan after the Jimmy Carter. This is our chance to sweep the house and senate in 2010 with conservatives like what happened in ‘94 after Clinton was elected.

People have been praying for this nation and I fully believe that Obama getting elected is an answer to those prayers. The American people are soft and gullible. And the only way to toughen and smarten them up is put them on the front lines of truth and let them FEEL the effects of their decisions.

Pray without ceasing for this country. We need it. We have the best ally anyone could ask for. God and his precious Son Jesus Christ. Let’s ask them to fight for us.

And not just minorities but a whole bunch in the majority who want the government to solve their problems.

It is a demographic shift that began long ago.

End the open primaries and stop letting the Traditional Media dictate our election strategy. They did this by bashing any of the true conservatives and, thus, steering the choice to a candidate that they liked...and who could ultimately be defeated by their boy. I wonder how a Romney/Palin ticket would've faired...
