Radio host Rush Limbaugh, the loudest conservative voice in American politics , today blasted John McCain's presidential campaign as weak and said Barack Obama's election as president is an opportunity to purge the Republican Party of candidates who abandon conservative principles.
"McCain's whole campaign was a concession speech," said Limbaugh in his post-election analysis. "We've now demonstrated to everyone how to lose."
Limbaugh dismissed any notion that victories by Democrats in the White House and Congress meant a repudiation of right-leaning principles.
Limbaugh explained conservatism was not on the ballot.
"We haven't been on the ballot since 1994," he said, noting that if Republicans wanted to win elections, they should not put so-called "moderates" on the ballot.
"The conservative movement does not need to be rebuilt," he said. "We had some people abandon the conservative movement, and they need to be abandoned."
The broadcaster called last night's results "an opportunity for cleansing ... like we haven't seen in a long time."

Had McCain won, the EIB Golden Mic would be silent about the state of the GOP.
Maybe in 2012, Republicans will be able to represent a high definition alternative to Obama's status quo. But that wasn't an option this time around.
Your post should be saved, replicated, and blasted all over the internet. AMEN!!!
Rush said he was going to name names but I might have missed that segment. But I’ve got a few:
Noonan
Barnes
Frum
Brooks
Kristol
No. I can’t wait. And I hope they start with that Fuld character from AIG? How in the world was he ever worth $1,000,000 per week plus?
Actually, I was waiting for Obama to start redistributing the women. I could take one of those wealthy GOP trophy wives and set her to scrubbing the floors and bath tubs. Swap in my old Plymouth for some investment banker’s Benz. Yep, that’s what I’ve been waiting for. To take stuff from other people. Mebbe I can grab an air hockey table from some football star...
Seriously, is that all thats on your mind? That an O victory is somebody taking your stuff???? Get real.
parsy, who can’t believe the irrational fears he sees. . .
‘rush can stfu. he sat there and carried watered for an economic liberal in bush for 8 years and basically gave him a free pass. someone should really call him out on it. i guess thats not good for ratings though.’
Rush was one of the main reasons that I became a conservative. However, with Bush, he could find no disagreement. For six years I defended Bush mainly because of Rush. If Rush had had truly held the interests of Conservatives he would have long ago called GW on the carpet. For years Rush carried the water bucket and I drank it. No more! Rush is a comfortable republican. He can only, in passing, find problems with republicans. He supported no one in the early part of the primary and only gave scant mention to D. Hunter.
Later, he pushed Gulliano and Rommey but could not stand McCain. When McCain won the primary he supported Hillary (operation CHAOS) and indicated that McCain was not a good pick. Still later on he deemed McCain our savior but could give no reasons to vote for him other than vote against the other guy.
From now on I’ll tune in on Rush for entertainment and some small isolated nuggets of wisdom. If we continue to look to talk show hosts for leadership we are forever screwed. These people are in it for the money.
There. Fixed it for you.
We need to remove the foxes from the henhouse now, and restructure the primary process now-before we get whiplashed again.
Ive always loved a sweater recipe. Particularly with sweater decorators.
Hey, where have you been lately?
Ailing mom-in-law. Family stuff. :(
IMO, the place to start is at the grass roots level. As employment falls and people are hurting financially, any sort of boot strap capitalism....sort of a Junior Achievement for adults...would spark interest. Teaching real skills of any sort on a free tutoring or barter arrangement might be appealing. Anyone who could help others become entrepreneurial on a shoestring or teach home maintenance or appliance repair or gardening or cooking from scratch or baking or building or sewing or anything that would help the budget right away, would find people interested.
We have to organize from the bottom up. On a one-to-one, face-to-face basis it is possible to transmit values and teach economics in a manner people can relate to. When individuals have a stake in something they built themselves, it matters to them if they lose it.
There is no conservative base because everyone out there assumes the economic and business infrastructure will always exist just as it does now. They take freedom for granted. They take economic mobility and choice for granted. When they lose it, at the moment, most have no way to gain it back.
The left won because they have been on the street organizing through various grass roots enterprises for 40 years. They used food co-ops and baby sitting co-ops and organic farming and business incubators and grants facilitators to draw people in and then they pulled a bait and switch and taught them it didn’t matter if they failed, they could just go demand things from the establishment. Well, they are now the establishment and there are many things everyone takes for granted that this establishment will not be able to provide in the near future. There are loads of us who built something out of nothing for mostly sweat equity and know how it was done. That can be taught. Success will breed respect for the underlying principles. Political parties won't.
Thanks, FRiend. ;)
Exactly right! No more open primaries should be #1 priority for conservatives. The RINO branch will fight it all the way, of course.
John McCain didn't want it bad enough to win.
And then there are the media and the racemongers.
My friend at the University of New Jersey said that rap music and caucasian yutes wearing their hats backwards was the beginning of the Obama campaign. I'm not sure I agree, but he might be on to something.
John McCain's concession speech was the textbook definition of doing it with honor.
I have seriously wondered if our dear leaders in both parties don’t just make agreements to “take turns” so they all get a shot at sticking their noses in the trough.
