According to exit poll results released thus far, Latino voters voted for Barack Obama over John McCain by a more than a 2-1 margin nationally: 66 percent to 31 percent. The proportion voting for the Democratic candidate is up sharply from 2004, when 55 percent of Latino voters supported John Kerry and 44 percent voted for President Bush.

Latinos are responsible for Obama's victory in New Mexico and contributed strongly to his margins in Nevada and Colorado. In New Mexico, Latinos constituted 41 percent of the electorate and voted for Obama by a 69 percent to 30 percent margin; white voters in New Mexico supported McCain 56 percent to 42 percent.

Republicans will never be able to out-pander Democrats in placating third-world immigrant blocs. That is absolutely a losing strategy, and a major reason for the widespread lack of enthusiasm among grassroots Republicans and Americans in general for his candidacy. Republicans (thank you, Karl Rove) have played the “we must win the Mexican/mestizo vote at all costs” game for a while now to their great, and unfortunately, probably lasting detriment.

Sad reality: because of how this election sews up the ethno-monolith Black and Hispanic Dem vote for probably a generation, in upcoming national elections, non-Dems will have to run very divisive, borderline race-baiting campaigns to make up the difference with the white vote.

Amen. I’m afraid you and are in the FR minority on this one.

There is a reflexive xenophobic/racist current that is currently running in the party, and has been for some time. We have nothing to fear from immigration, especially from a group that has a long a passionate Judeo/Christian ethic. Unless this addressed, the GOP is destined to be a opposition party for a long, long time.

The national disaster is here. The economy is deteriorating every day and will probably do so for many months if not years. The denial of this obvious catastrophe by republicans only led to repudiation and distrust by the electorate. While this pain will be felt by all Americans it will be felt even more painfully by the illegal immigrants as they abandon the homes they got for nothing courtesy of Clinton-Bush and return to Mexico or from wherever they came from. Our best hope that with this depression that is coming these illegals will no longer be here for the amnesty that the leftist in both parties will push.

All that pandering to the Latinos really paid off well didn’t it John?...............

All that hostility directed at Latinos because they were Latinos really paid off well didn’t it, Red Badger?

Have you ever wondered why Irish Catholics, who should be voting conservative Republican now, still vote Democrat like their fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and great-great-grandfathers did?

It is because they still have family memories about the times that Republicans portrayed them like this:

In case you missed him, the Irishman is the man on the left hand side with ape-like features (as Irishmen were custumarilly portrayed in Republican political cartoons of the late 1800's).

The real issue is latinos from areas like South America embrace socialism. So, they vote dem when they get here to America. Look at the countries they flee, yet they come here and want a big welfare socialist state like back home.

Sometimes I still believe the GOP wanted to lose this election.

They want the RATS to give the amnesty, they want them to screw the economy, they want national healthcare, which they know will be awful, all provided from DC to you by the Democrats, instead of themselves. I think of all the Congress candidates that bailed and retired from the GOP. Why now?

Once everyone is wallowing in worse than Carterlike misery, they can then run on change and hope.

Latinos see themselves as a “minority” even though they are Caucasian. They are part of the “victim” class who Obama is the leader of. Even though they often compete, Latinos joined with the black “minority” to gain power over whitey. There is clear class and racial warfare in the U.S. but only one side realizes it's in a war. Blacks, or Latinos who think Obama should be President because of the color of his skin or his “minority” status are every bit as much the enemy to me as groups like the KKK who don't want Obama to be president for the same reasons.

That must be the reason blacks are almost all Democrats because Lincoln, the Republican, set them free and the Democrats controlled the racist south that hung them from trees. Is that it?

When Latinos vote democrat they vote for illegals you and I both know it. Why would a catholic Latino vote for and extreme abortionist? or someone who believe in homosexual marriage? They are either voting because they hate whites or because they want our borders eliminated for their homies in mehico.

It will only get worse. Democrats are going to lure more poor Mexicans over here for more government handouts (wealth redistribution) and create a permanent democrat majority.

Yup, all part of the RAT machine. Combine with ACORN and the already 2/3 of brain dead Americans, America will never recover until a civil war happens. Shit will hit the fan when the military come home.

The real reason we lost this election can be laid firmly at the feet of George Bush and McCain. McCain pissed off most of the conservative base, so much so that even a good candidate like Palin could not swing the tide.

Bush on the other hand pissed off everyone. He may have done a few good things, but the socialist crap he passed, including McCain-Finegold, was against every Conservative principle that Republicans are supposed to stand for.

Bush will go down in history as the destroyer of the Republican party. What we have to do now is start reforming the party and kicking out people that follow the Bush-McCain mindset and replacing them with good solid conservatives.

I’ve yo-yoed between thinking that other Hispanics could be wooed into the GOP besides Florida Cubans. But I don’t think it is possible in the end. There would be a pandering arms race that Republicans could never match.

I wish that some Freepers would be a little more cautious with their language, though. I understand the hostility of those who have to put up living next to the hordes. But, sheesh, blanket hostility will kill us even worse.
