Official Election Hangover Thread
SoftwareEngineer | 11/05/2008 | SoftwareEngineer

Posted on 11/05/2008 2:54:40 AM PST by SoftwareEngineer

What an awful way to wake up this morning. I have a sense of disbelief about what has happened. I am trying to do my morning chores but I can physically feel my heart hurting and my head pounding. It is unreal. I feel I am not really living this and instead this is some hallucination.

And yet, the day must go on. I have to get ready, go to work and meet clients. So to get over this election hangover (and a fair bit of Glenlivet last night) I am going to do the following:

1. Pray 2. Go for a run 3. Not watch any TV or listen to any Radio 4. Take a giant Excederin for my headache

How is everyone else handling this? Please post what you are all doing to keep functioning

You’ve expressed my thoughts well.

I take the man at his word “Change is coming to America”...

Nightmares ALL night! This is like a funeral to me. I truly fear for what is about to happen to my Country! Obama/Pelousy/Reid ..

The pessimist in me says “well .. 232 years of the United States .. we had a good run.” Because the inmates and the illegals and the radicals have now officially taken over this Country.

The optimist in me says that I have to trust that somehow God will keep us from destroying ourselves and that there ARE good Patriots who will be the next generation of strong Conservatives! Remembering that after four dark years of Jimmuh Cottuh we had eight WONDERFUL years of Ronaldus Magnus!

Breathe in, breathe out ..

Amen..I loved your post.
What i find so unbelievable is that Most of the people who voted for this idiot, won’t even understand the reality and fears of what you say.
It’s as if brilliant people along with the stupid, have all be brainwashed.

What keeps coming to mind over and over is..

Bless them father for they know not what they’ve done!!
GOD help us.

I completely understand. I have been fasting 3 days a week for the last 2 months praying for the election. I haven’t eaten since Sunday. (On a positive note, I am now within 2 pounds of my driver’s license weight for the first time in 10 years!). Am I disappointed today? Absolutely. Am I concerned for what the next few years will bring? Sure.

But I don’t believe my prayers have gone unanswered or that the answer was “No, I plan to let America crash into the dust.”

I think that this generation has been given a heaping helping of be careful what you ask for — sometimes it takes that to put some spine into people. I think that reality will deal harshly with the mushy moderates who will regret their vote and that we can talk conservatism until we are blue in the face but it’s going to take stone cold hardship to change minds. I think that God has given us a clean slate as Republicans to refocus and refresh our party. I think that we may be entering a “Babylonian captivity” which God used to preserve, renew, and ultimately advance his people.

So I have hope for this nation (and not the kind Obama promised), but more importantly I have hope in the Lord. And I am so enjoying this ham and cheese omelet this morning...think I’ll chase it with a handful of my kid’s Halloween candy.

I used to be able to do that. Sigh.

I'm not a big drinker--in fact, I seldom drink. I had a few last night, though...one of my neighbors is a conservative judge (county probate) and I toasted his reelection a couple of times. Passed out by 10pm. I'm a total lightweight.

This morning, I feel like throwing up, but this much I know: It's not from last night's Chardonnay. It's from waking up to find a Godless, abortion-loving elitist egotist is our President-elect.

One good thing: Four years of being able to say "Don't blame me. I didn't vote for him."

1. After Obama is inaugurated and the next Congress enters session, there will be a flurry of obnoxious and odious laws passed that will make most of us gag.

2. The economy will tank even worse. Obama, Pelosi and Reid will get away with blaming Bush and the GOP for "8 years of failed policies", but that will only work for about six months before the Rats are stuck with full ownership of it, since they will control all three branches of government.

3. Obama's initial attempts at diplomacy will fail miserably, and terrorism will spike. Additionally, our country or one of its allies (Israel) will be attacked. The Rat-controlled government will fumble its response (by running to the U.N.) and humiliate this country further, while more Americans die.

4. Ginsburg, Stevens, and Kennedy will retire from SCOTUS, and Obama will select three hard-core liberal judges to replace them, easily confirmed by the Rat-controlled Senate. Our civil liberties will then start contracting sharply, with a new Fairness Doctrine imposed and new assaults on the 1st and 2nd Amendments.

5. After about 8 months, and once the honeymoon with Obama is finally over, the various Rat factions (feminists, gays, enivro-wackos, blacks) competing for money and influence in Congress will start squabbling with one another and begin the process of tearing the party apart, much as it did in 1993 and 1994.

6. By 2010, the U.S. public will become so disenchanted with a Democrat-controlled Congress that both the House and Senate will suffer big turnovers in that year's election, as happened in 1994.

7. By 2012, Obama will be so weakened by his failed social, economic, and foreign policies snafus that he will become vulnerable to defeat that year.

8. Sarah Palin will win re-election as governor of Alaska in 2010, and make her first big moves toward a Presidential campaign. He biggest challenger for the GOP mantle will be Mitt Romney, whose people have tried their best to damage her over the past few weeks with their "leaks" to the press.

9. Palin will re-energize the Conservative base and win the 2012 GOP nomination, despite more underhanded tactics by Romney and his network.

10. Governor Palin will win the Presidency in 2012.

Having been thinking of my own list, I would say that's a good list; I think 1-4 and 8 are pretty much guaranteed to happen.

5, 6, 7, and 9 are also on track, but I think are more speculative.

As to 10, I plan to work on that for the next four years.

Then, I’m going to go over my budget tomorrow (day off) with a fine-toothed comb. I’m going to put more pre-tax dollars into my 401K at work, pay off my CCs, and cut my consumer spending to the bone, which will keep sales tax dollars out of Blue State hands.

I couldn’t live with myself if one extra DIME of mine goes to support this Marxist and his plans for America.

You might want to keep in mind that the Democrats have already been discussing confiscating 401k and 403b money.

“Palin will be elected president in 2012.”

Folks, get this through your heads...if Obama and the Dem controlled Congress are successful in LEGALIZING 12-15 million hispanics and they get the right to vote...there will NEVER be another GOP president.

For what it is worth, I didn't write what you quoted. Instead, I was just quoting Virginia Ridgerunner's posting #88 (all of the material in the gray box is quoted material from #88); what you quoted was his tenth point.

My comment about Virginia Ridgerunner's point 10 is at the bottom, where I say "As to 10, I plan to work on that for the next four years."

I’m very seriously considering wearing a black arm band on 1/20/09.

Not to mourn Obama, but to mourn all the innocent children who will be killed if he keeps his evil promise to sign FOCA as his first presidential act.

Thanks, ZAKJAN2.

My greatest concern is what Joe Biden said about Obama being tested six months into his administration.

Thank you for those encouraging words. I still could cry but I know tears do nothing. This just didnt happen last night, this happened many years ago. I would say in the 80’s the revolution of free sex and homosexuality. Christians remaind asleep. Then we had 911 an opportunity to give answers and help to a nation that needed consoling and hope. Bush took us down a road of dispare without answers The church sounded in the 2004 vote and our President and House and Senate did nothing!!!Except fill their pockets and whoop it up in the White House with prostitutes and young interns ( on our dime). America was searching....Kids in the meantime were being fed anti-American values, bibles taken away, parental rights out the door, redifining marriage arrived and again the church (the people) didnt unite or stand for Gods values! WE dont teach because half of us dont even know what God stands for or even who God is anymore...we know more about 24 and our kids know more about Miley Cirus than the living God!

Obama and company stepped in and offered Hope and Change and you know what those college kids soaked it up. They want hope and they needed something more than the words of people who lost their trust! This is a wake up call. The Republicans need more,, they are going to need a person of substance and character......Joe the Plumber is not going to be their to carry the next one.

Who will it be? I dont know, but we need to teach our children and encourage them to be leaders in the community and continue to write Gods words over our door posts and read to them day and night so they do not forget!

God is speaking, and I hope America will now listen and answer with Yes, Lord HERE AM I!!!! Humble thy self in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.

God Bless

What scares me most is that more than 1 in 2 Americans wanted this to happen.

Nope.

63 million Americans wanted this to happen.

56 million didn't.

And the rest of the 300* million stayed home.

*includes non-voter eligible people I'm sure.

He only got 62 million votes. That’s 1 in 5. And who knows how many actually WANTED it to happen as opposed to didn’t want a McCain win to happen, there is a difference. This was a craptacular presidential field from both parties, and the lower than recent years turn out shows America actually wasn’t terribly psyched either way.

Really the way the GOP has let the Dems dictate terms since the 04 win which completely killed what little popularity Bush had this was a no win for the GOP from the start. The fact that it was even close shows the Dems really didn’t put forth good candidates and Congress is highly winnable in 10 and Obama is beatable in 12. There’s nothing permanent in this world, hopefully that includes the stupidity of the top brass in the GOP.
