Obama victory sets off jubilation

From the avenue in Atlanta where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was born to a giant lakefront rally in Chicago, Americans black and white celebrated Barack Obama's election with tears, the honking of horns, screams of joy, arms lifted skyward - and memories of civil rights struggles past.

Tens of thousands of people who had crowded into Grant Park in Chicago to await Obama's arrival erupted in cheers and jubilantly waved American flags as the TV news announced the llinois senator had been elected the first black president. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who had made two White House bids himself, had tears streaming down his face.

Gatherings in churches and homes spilled outdoors, with people dancing in the streets and honking their horns in celebration.

Some didn't even wait for Obama to be declared the winner.--snip--

"It's a landslide! It's a landslide!" shouted 51-year-old Mark Bias, who was dressed in a tall satin Uncle Sam hat and red, white and blue cape.

"This means that America will be back on the right track again," said Bias, who co-owns what he described as a "gay pride" shop.

The dumb sh*ts that thought Obamalamadingdong would change a thing for them are delusional.

Politicians make things better for themselves, not for the little people. If YOU don't have drive and determination, you ain't going nowhere.

The same jobless thug Obama dorks who are thrilled over his win tonight will be in precisely the same economic condition in four years, eight years, twenty years.

Office holders don't improve your lot. You do.

"What the heck kind of business is that?"

Presumably the kind that sells rainbow flags, equality stickers, and lots and lots of Astroglide. Just guessing. :D

As sad as this is, we should have seen this coming. This defeat is George W Bush’s defeat. While he exemplified courage on the fight against terrorism, he abondeoned conservative principals at home. He went along with a Republican congress’s drunken sailor spending spree and didn’t stand up and fight the Democrats with their radical, leftist agenda when they took power in 2007. His final, fatal blow to the Republican party was his pressing the panic button when Lehman Bros. fell. He, along with the Democrats and rino Republicans lied to us and said a depression was comming unless we bail them out. McCain was ahead in this race until that happened. The McCain went along with the panic and down he went.

This election is a disaster, but one that the Republican party needed. We will find out if the party has learned it’s lesson and will finally stand up and fight for Conserverative principals. They are not dead. They have been down this road before. 1976 and 1992 were bad years for thr Republicans a well because they had lost their way.

Within the first 6 months of the Obama administration, America will learn Obama is not the Messiah. America will learn he is not a centrist. America will learn he wants to raise taxes. America will learn all about him as he moves out from under the media’s security blanket an into the spotlight where he will find there are actually high expectaions he just won’t be able to live up to. Then what ever issue it is, whether it be taxes, foreign policy or whatever he screws up on, the Republicans will need to make that their battle cray against him and fight on it and have a clear message for the American people to hear.

Then we can start to really take it back.

“Within a year they will by crying “what hath we done?!”

I would like to think that, but as today has proven - the majority of folks are idiots. It will be Bush’s fault. They will say “Not even The One could get us out of Bush’s big mess. But give it more time. And yes, more money.”

Heck, the History books are still telling us that FDR got us OUT OF the Great Depression. I have a terrible feeling that this is 1933 all over again.

I think the Media will give Obama 100% credit for any successes...and will blame the Bush legacy for any failures.

The media NEVER blamed anything but a budget surplus on Bill Clinton, not the USS Cole, Kosovo, Bin Laden, mysterious deaths of associates, NADA.

The media is a threat to the USA.

blame Bush for everything including weather

Oh no, it doesn't work that way! You see the Democrats get el nino, but the Republicans get la nina. It's an undeniable cycle!
