From the avenue in Atlanta where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was born to a giant lakefront rally in Chicago, Americans black and white celebrated Barack Obama's election with tears, the honking of horns, screams of joy, arms lifted skyward - and memories of civil rights struggles past.
Tens of thousands of people who had crowded into Grant Park in Chicago to await Obama's arrival erupted in cheers and jubilantly waved American flags as the TV news announced the llinois senator had been elected the first black president. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who had made two White House bids himself, had tears streaming down his face.
Gatherings in churches and homes spilled outdoors, with people dancing in the streets and honking their horns in celebration.
Some didn't even wait for Obama to be declared the winner.--snip--
"It's a landslide! It's a landslide!" shouted 51-year-old Mark Bias, who was dressed in a tall satin Uncle Sam hat and red, white and blue cape.
"This means that America will be back on the right track again," said Bias, who co-owns what he described as a "gay pride" shop.

I don’t recall “joyful” articles when Bush won. It was all about how the evil Republicans stole the election.
There is never a stolen vote when the Democrats win. Only when they lose. And no celebrating allowed when the GOP wins.
A landslide is like all but five states if that. McCain won
TWENTY FOUR STATES! That’s hardly a massive landslide for Obama.
To us it hurt because wonderful states like Virgina and North Carolina turned blue for the first time in a long time.
That is due to the creeps from liberal states fleeing their bad policies only to bring them to red America.
THEY WILL BE ON THEIR KNEES TO US WITHIN A YEAR. THE ARABS JUBILATED AFTER 911. What are they doing now? Not to worry. Losers never win. Winners never lose. The moochers are gonna be dissapointed.

The wisest decision George W. Bush could make before leaving office, especially if he wants to respect and protect this nation, he will “surrender” the Presidential claims to “executive privilege” that were granted as an “emergency” provision so long ago.
Take your children out of government schools and colleges.
Withhold funds from the Marxist. Hide your income.
I am reminded of a Star Wars Revenge of the Sith line, “So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause?”

Party on fools...you have just voted for a huge hangover of major proportions.
Now that Barakulese is president he can have Reverend Wright start congressional daily sessions off with the prayer, “God damn America!”
McCain will end up with about 47% of the popular vote. Obama will have about 52%. These are hardly landslide numbers. The electoral college vote often magnifies the size of a victory.
Bias alright.
Let them celebrate now. Within a year they will by crying “what hath we done?!”
We get to sit back and ask, "where's my free money, free college, tax cut?" When are you going to fix healthcare and the economy? When will you employ the unemployed and repair the infrastructure?
And what about our national security - when are you going to work on that?
Ya, he moves toward the center now, right?
