OK. You've gone out and voted, like a good citizen. Tell us about it.

How was turnout? Were there any problems at your polling place? Who do you think will win your local races?

My precinct is BLUE, far west San Antonio. Voted at 7:10am ... for McCain/Palin, of course! & all possible R’s. Puny turnout (~20?) in early hours, but didn’t check later in the day. Same place/time had at least 150 waiting to vote for Gorey in 2k!

Potential Negative: Computers are visible to election staffers and anyone walking behind as you vote on 12 “pages” of software (no curtain for privacy). Staffer walks me to a computer, plugs in “device” which brings up voting interface, takes device out and leaves. I mark my ballot, push the big red “VOTE” button & turn around to see her with her head down talking with another election staffer - both watching me. Cause for concern ... or jes’ paranoia? hehe

Certain Positive: One voter is at her computer placing her votes, needs help; her daughter/driver attempts to help her. Staffer immediately stops the daughter, says that is not acceptable; staffer helps woman with her question.

Just saw the Freep headline regarding coersion of the elderly by their kids/drivers!

Voted about 5:15, Lakeland, FL.
Swing state, purple precinct.
They had re-arranged the normal voting room configuration, but added no booths. No wait time, but instead of being one of two or three voters in the room, there were about 12 of us voting.
I have moved, within my precinct, but have not yet changed my DL. The local paper claimed any changes in address within the same precinct, or in any other, would not require a provisional ballot. So when I was asked if the address was correct, I said no, I have moved, but within the same precinct.
The woman(A) at the ballot table circled my name, but told me I had to go to another desk to get the address updated first. I did, and that woman (B), said I should vote first, and then change my address for the next election. She escorted me back to the desk and asked a different worker if I was listed. That lady(C) said yes, and I interjected that the woman (A) who directed me to the “other desk” had already circled my name.
Women (A) and (B) then proceeded to argue about whether or not I should have a ballot IAW the new election rules.Woman (B) prevailed, and I got the regular ballot, voted, then returned to woman (B) to fill out and sign a form stating I had moved (the standard change of address form).

My take...If I had just lied, I could have averted the whole process. It appears honesty is never the best policy when dealing with partially trained voting workers.

South Mississippi. 99% white voters, no crazy business or “security guards”. We did have 3 sherriff’s deputies there though.

Our county usually goes hard republican. I voted for Barr since I know McCain will carry my area anyways and now I dont have to take a long hot shower because I voted for someone who is going to create carbon offset taxes and make all the illegals citizens.

Thank you Meek. That is just like the Google map that I used all last evening. Very neat, point at a state and get the information.

Thankfully - we live in Texas.
