OK. You've gone out and voted, like a good citizen. Tell us about it.
How was turnout? Were there any problems at your polling place? Who do you think will win your local races?
Voted at 10AM CST here in north central Louisiana. Suburban precinct, very red. About 1500 total voters registered there and about 525 had voted by that time. Polls opened at 6AM and will close at 8PM.
Five minute wait. US Senate race (Kennedy/Landrieu) and several constitutional amendments.
A heartwarming story: We went to the polling booth very early (Very rural southern Iowa)- Everything went very smoothly; we were there about 15 mins.
A few minutes ago at work I got a call from one of the poll workers who knows us, and she told me that my wife had forgotten to sign the voting register. The ballot would be invalid without her signature. She can go back and take care of it later.
I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of this lady.
I cast my California vote at 7:33 am. There were 2 precincts voting at the same location. I was number 32 for my purple precinct. There were 15 tallied for the blue precinct. No waiting except for the woman who was registered somewhere else and didn’t know where to vote. Most of the poll workers looked to be about 13 years old.
I doubt these were fake voters. I am fairly new to this area, so I don’t know many people. But, people in line around me were greeting those in line by name - it’s a rural Kansas precinct and is heavily republican. Being a small town, everybody seems to know everybody.
It would be seriously difficult to commit “unknown voter” fraud, with so many people knowing everyone else by face and name.
I voted over lunch. Still a line, but not as bad. Took 30 minutes. Mine was vote #550 or so.
It sounds like a great place to be.
I live in Roswell and know Marietta well. My last residence was off Atlanta Rd. next to NAS. What part of Marietta is your precinct?
Where do you live?
I drive my wife nuts because I actually love and thrive on confrontation. I wish I was in a more Dem area today.
There are a lot more nObama signs around than I'd prefer but it is one of the Philly suburbs. I was #905, a pretty big number for my small township. We shall see!
Heavy voter turnout in my little burg outside Harrisburg. I figure we are about 60/40 leaning Mccain in this area. The kids had a mock election and Mccain won by a fairly large margin. The local GOP called this morning to let us know to expect lines. I was number 320 about 1030.

All of these reports have me very hopeful, especially the heavy turnouts in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Keep it up!
We'll be down Thursday for the Maryland game. Kick butt, Hokies (and McPalin).
We definitely like it. 10 acres, billyuns and billyuns of stars at night... And a conservative population, as well!
I’ve been going to the same site in Eden Prairie, MN (red) for 18 years and I took one look in and left. It is jam packed - about a 45 minute wait. It has NEVER been that way before - not even in 04. I work 10 minutes from my polling place so I’m going back mid afternoon.
Over here in Roanoke, line was the same as it always is at my precinct, i.e., it took me about 20 minutes to vote. But, I chatted up the poll ladies and they said the turn out very early was high. I am hoping the high turnout was for McCain, but there was really no way to tell.
My eldest is a junior at Santa Clara and studying abroad this quarter. She emailed me yesterday from Copenhagen to get instructions as to how to fax her absentee ballot to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. One more vote for McPalin.
South Whitehall Township (suburb of Allentown, PA-60 miles north of Phila.). 11 AM - waited about 30 minutes. Have never waited that long and have been voting here for 25 years.
South Whitehall Township is 43% R, 30% D.
Wilmington area NC - I think our small community is a fairly balanced mix of red and blue (partially rural/suburbs). Heavy voter turn out first thing - I was 498 to vote and I’m usually in the low 100’s. Went with a friend and her husband and helped her take her mother (wheelchair bound) to vote. My husband tried this morning and the line was very long. He’s going this afternoon. That’s five votes for McCain/Palin and Dole that I’m sure of. I also know others who are PUMAS and women that LOVE Sarah Palin but usually trend democrat.
The atmosphere was very friendly. I spoke to the McCain/Palin folks briefly. There was a NAACP rep there watching people to make sure they didn’t go past the posted point for giving out literature. No one was intimidating or even sour faced. I didn’t see much of a change from previous elections except for a slightly higher early turnout. There was a large turn out for early voting as well.
A lot of black turnout, a lot of youth turn out but also plenty of older (and rather vocally conservative) and middle age voters. I have no idea what it means but we usually go red by a slight margin. I still don’t think Obama has a chance of taking NC and I think Dole will win as well.
My husband and I had to cancel out the votes of my mother and brother who are suffering from PDS. :(
