OK. You've gone out and voted, like a good citizen. Tell us about it.
How was turnout? Were there any problems at your polling place? Who do you think will win your local races?
One woman behind me started ranting to her female lover (I assume), loudly going on and on about how terrible these last seven years have been, etc. etc. etc. I turned around, looked at her and shook my head. She evidently realized that I was not an Obama pod person and continued her rants sotto voce.
Tee hee! Like Obama tried to win NH and how he won the Iowa caucus?
I voted @10:00 in Fairfax County, VA. Very short lines, and only a few over 1000 people had voted by then. Democrats were very organized here, with free drinks and candy.
Precinct is Democrat. It was a very quick line. Lots of students from Virginia Tech as it is the closest precinct to the dorms, many bused in Obama minivans.
Precinct judges looked “concerned”. That’s the first time I have seen that. I don’t know why but I suspect it is due to so many students.
Maine Twp. Precinct 4 - NW Suburban Cook, IL
55-45 Bush 2000, 49.5-49 Bush 2004, increasingly blue since then.
Spouse and I arrived at the polls seven minutes before they opened ... we were voters number 24 and 25. Normally we would have been right at the front at that time. There was quite a long line (didnt try to count) across the school gym floor and down the hall to the building entrance when we left.
There were a surprising number of young people ... not so good for our side, IMO.

I'm in the blue Philadelphia suburbs of NJ. There are still some solid Republicans in our area, but the Dems rule the roost for the most part.
Turnout was light at 8:00 AM. No lines.

I like the sound of that!!!
Here in Oklahoma, a voting booth is a desktop tri-fold piece of pre-printed cardboard sitting on a folding table, usually 3 or 4 to the table, and a magic marker to mark the ballot.
After voting, voters feed their ballots into the single reader machine near the exit door.
Need to add more voting booths? A buck-two-ninety-five and 45 seconds.
That’s because we’re smarter here in Oklahoma.
;-)
BTW, when I voted at 7am, there were two long lines, one for each half of the alphabet. When I returned at 9am so my daughter could vote, there were no lines.
I conclude that the long lines happened because a lot of people needed to vote before going to work. I imagine the long lines will return in the late afternoon.
This is a strong red precinct in a strong red State. McCain will get well over 60%, as will Senator Inhoff and Congressman Sullivan.
My county is red. My state is sometimes red. There has never been a line at the polling place before, but there was today. Half a block, took an hour and a half to vote.
Many people here were planning to vote, to take off work if need be, to arrive late at work if necessary. Many are not being supportive of a particular candidate, but feel they really need to vote.
In the community, there are 2/3 McCain & Palin signs, 1/3 Obama signs. Very few bumper stickers. Many of the yard signs are for local candidates.
Very heavy turn out - strong McCain support represented based on those people around us in line.
The process was relatively efficient... only problem was that there was only one voting machine to accept/read paper ballots so the process was slower than if there had been a few more machines. Basically no hassles...
My precinct is so blue, it’s black! (south St. Louis city)
We have a challenger to Senator Kerry. His name is Jeff Beatty. I hope he wins, because he is a veteran and has a great resume.
Democrats did not have a thing in Clifton except their tacko flyers. Republicans had muffins and donuts : ). A ton of older whites in looong line.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out why Bambi would bring bankrupting the coal industry at that late date! Any clue as to why?
Our polling place is across the street. We all dressed in red (kids, too) and paraded over there this morning. It’s a tiny town so we had no trouble at all. I think the kids were a bit disappointed. LOL! They were ready for action, I think!
‘gridlock’ describes the entrance to the parking lot.
I couldn’t even get in to the lot @10:30. Gonna try again this afternoon.
Blue state, blue district, small urban area (~35K).
THANKS SO MUCH!
have saved this link.
Just got back (voted about 10:15 am EST), NJ-Blue State, Wore my red shirt, other red shirts present. 5 minute wait but overheard poll worker saying it has been steady all day.
