While John McCain's campaign has tried to tie its Democratic rival to socialism, one of the Arizona Republican's top surrogates said Barack Obama is not a socialist.
McCain's campaign had seized on Sen. Obamas statements that he plans to spread the wealth around and sought to tie the Illinois Democrat to socialism.
But former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), while arguing that Obamas economic plan is a job-killer, said Monday on CBSs Early Show: You know, I dont think Barack Obamas a socialist. I think a lot of his policies are inspired by the pathway [that] Europe took. I think the idea of having the government take over healthcare and raise taxes on employers is the wrong direction for the country.
Romney, who was the GOP surrogate tasked with appearing on all of the morning talk shows, also said both candidates are terrific men, when asked if the country would be in good hands if the Democrat is elected.
Ill be very concerned about the economy for the country. Ill be concerned that the economy will be in a slow-down or a recession for a longer, deeper period, Romney stated. I'll be concerned about long term, about a president who would raise taxes on businesses and, if you will, through this intimidation, impose unions on small businesses.
Please see the link at post #203. And please get a grip and learn the facts before you throw a tantrum next time. : )
You and me both, sister! : ) I have the ability to be more diplomatic, but don't use it often enough.
It’s amazing how everyone starts heading for the hills when they think we might lose. Perhaps he’s afraid he’ll be first on the list for Obama’s men in black if he doesn’t play nice.
This is sad for the country, and sad for the party that had so much potential to protect freedom, and then scattered like roaches after they mess it up. Of course, I suppose we could expect nothing less from politicians.
Take comfort, Diogenesis. Post for post, your replies are more honest, informative and inciteful than Dio’s, and thus more persuasive for Romney. Wait, his responses are so ugly he might just be responsible for pushing more people into the Romney camp than you and all of us combined! : )
Please see reply #203. Because of directives per the McCain campaign, McCain, Romney and Palin will not refer to Obama as a socialist!
He’s not a socialist, he’s a radical Marxist.
Actually if there’s an opening for Empress I’ll take it if it is forced upon me.
(And I’m backing away from this thread now!)
Coincidentally, I was just this moment thinking about you, and I think you DO have the ability to be a stateswoman...of the Margaret Thatcher variety with a slightly softer touch! : )
So there's no need for you to fill the empress slot!: )
Let see if I understand this...
They can partake in harping on Ayres, calling him a terrorist and not overtly connecting the dots to Obama so they can appear like they are partaking in partisan character assassination and fear mongering instead. And they can win like that? That’s absurd.
I like my idea better.
I have a “checkered” past... ;-) Long ago, but there it is.
I think I’ll have to keep biting ankles from the sidelines.
Sheesh - I’m going to be glued to FR all day tomorrow.
It was long ago. I wouldn't let it stop you, if you ever have a mind to do it! : )
Your idea is...
I mean, I have a REALLY checkered past! I lived in Berkeley in the late 60s...
Heck, I’ve often thought that if you pull a bunch of people at random off the street (not homeless people but regular people) they’d at least make better congressmen than the suits in DC.
Look at Joe the Plumber!
If Ayers the Bomber can be a professor who launched the career of the current Dem Presidential nominee, lj from Berkley (I haven't forgotten) can at least run for state senate and/or congress! : )
Perhaps you could enighten me then.
Why would someone who spent 5 years in a vietnam prison camp being beaten and torured with in an inch of his life day in and day out for his comrades and country stand back now and let Obama and his liberal, socialist, cohorts end up with real power to change it into something we won’t even recognize by not standing up and saying it. It doesn’t make any sense to me at all.
Impy says Romney not a good guy.
Sheesh, as if we really need more proof that Mitt is trying to kill the campaign for his own ends. Even worse since he will never win a national campaign.
Selfish SOB...
And same to your little groupies club members as well. Maybe the few that are really Conservative will finally wake up.
Nah, love is a many splendid thing...
LOL...
OOOPs, looks like it is time for the Romulans to put up the Kool Aide...
Mitt Romney, the willing solider with a dagger ready as soon as you look away...
