With two days to go before the election, Barack Obama spoke with messianic zeal before an estimated 80,000 people in Cleveland this afternoon who were drawn by a free acoustic concert by Bruce Springsteen.
AFP reports Obama riffed on Springsteen's closing song, The Rising, when he took the stage:
"A rising is coming," Obama said after Springsteen exclaimed to deafening cheers: "I want my country back, I want my dream back, I want my America back!"
The Rising was written about the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and was the title song of Springsteen's cathartic album released the year after the attacks. Obama and Springsteen's use of the song at Obama's political rallies perverts the song to equate the Bush presidency with the 9/11 attacks.
Obama, equating his presidency as "a rising" is treading on blasphemous territory, territory he knows well from Rev. Wright and Father Pfleger.
Obama's cry he wants his America back is laughable, unless he's talking about the America that his wife suddenly became proud of earlier this year when Obama's victory was more assured.
They SHOULD have gone home, after all those Browns screw-ups.
The “Cardiac Kids” were the best.
They refused to give up.
I heard it was awful.
I have no words..
how come?
Springsteen is not very good anyway. He is so overrated. The last great American band was the Grateful Dead.
I heard they had a lot of errors, including multiple interceptions. That’s what I was told by some people who left the game.
It’s ALL IMAGE, folks — just like Rush mentioned.
I didn’t see it here but from the ESPN highlights they just let the Ravens back into it when they shouldn’t have.
A battle of GOTV, folks.
Unfortunately, the game was not available here in Chattanooga. Too bad that they lost to Art Modell's Ravens though.
I did get to watch the OSU - Penn State game last week though. Very tough game. It was the one fumble by OSU's freshman quarterback that lost that game. I work with a guy from Pennsylvania who had several family members that went to Penn State so you can imagine the rivalry. The southerners don't really know what to make of Big-10 rivalries. :-)
I never thought I’d hear the end of it from the Gator fans down here after that last championship game.
Yes, they were (though I loved the Kosar days as well).
.."Sipe, Under Pressure!! Throws to Newsome across the middle, CAUGHT, First Down Cleveland!!" I can still hear Gib Shanley calling the games on the radio. At home, I always turned the TV sound down and let the local radio announcer call the game.
“We were the land’s before the land was ours.”

Somehow, he does not seem to grasp it. His “rising” is the pure democracy perverted by demagoguery which the Constitution was designed to prevent.
Absolutely! I'm sending out an e-mail to all the potential Republican votes that I know in Ohio tomorrow morning. They've got to get out, and they've got to ignore the MSM polls. IBD put McCain ahead this weekend, albeit by a very small margin. He can pull it out!
McCain and Palin are the new "Cardiac Kids"!!
You got that right! The new Cardiac Kids!
FYI ...
Rudy Giuliani was here in Chagrin Falls this past Friday.
McCain was at Mentor High School and Bill Clinton at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland last week. BHO never showed up in those areas like all of the past Presidential candidates. Could BHO be having to work in the BLUE areas of Ohio? Hmmm...
Or ...
Is it double duty? We’ll know Tuesday.
