Hey all!
I was listening to Ramon Raquello and his orchestra (and who doesn't?) and just as they were playing "La Cumparsita", the program was interupted by a breaking news story from the Intercontinental Radio News with a bulletin on Mars.
"At twenty minutes before eight, central time, Professor Farrell of the Mount Jennings Observatory, Chicago, Illinois, reports observing several explosions of incandescent gas, occurring at regular intervals on the planet Mars. The spectroscope indicates the gas to be hydrogen and moving towards the earth with enormous velocity. Professor Pierson of the Observatory at Princeton confirms Farrell's observation, and describes the phenomenon as "like a jet of blue flame shot from a gun".

Seriously, that radio broadcast was on October 30, 1938, 70 years ago today.

There is this reporter named Carl Phillips interviewing some astronomer named Pierson. This Pierson guy sure sounds a lot like Orson Welles....hmmmm.

It will hit earth and we will all be killed, one minute after the last network calls the election for Obama.
Mars is roughly 40 million miles away from us. I’m sure we will not be affected by these gas outbursts.

As luck would have it, I’m in Alaska. I have investigated the ethics of Governor Palin, and my conclusion is that she is highly ethical, has the courage of her convictions, is willing to fight for what is right and fight against what is wrong, and will make a great Vice President of the United States of America. :)
