Despite Barack Obama's approval of abortion and homosexual activism, new polling by a prestigious Christian research group indicates that the Democratic presidential nominee is making significant inroads among voters who are classified as "born-again" Christians.
The Barna Group for research says Obama is statistically tied (43 percent to 45 percent) with Republican John McCain among born-again Christian voters. "Born-again Christians" are defined by Barna as people who say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus and believe they will go to heaven because they have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. Based on that definition, 48 percent of all voters in this election will be "born-again" Christians.
Meantime, Barna says 63 percent of "evangelicals" are supporting McCain, while 23 percent are supporting Obama. "Evangelicals" meet the "born-again" criteria, plus seven other conditions, including the belief that salvation is only possible through grace, not works.
According to Dave Kinnaman, president of The Barna Group, born-again Christians voting for Obama say they are backing the Illinois senator because they believe he will do a better job restoring America's reputation and handling the economy and agree with his stance on the Iraq War.
"People in their 20s or 30s who are born-again Christian are more likely to support Senator Obama than Senator McCain, compared to people who are older born-again Christians, who are more likely to support the Arizona senator," he explains. "So, when you look at it, it's a pretty complex set of reasons, and each person comes to this voting decision with their own unique sensibility, but what's interesting is the Christian community, compared to previous elections, is more open to this Democratic candidate than we've seen in at least the last couple national elections."
Kinnaman says it is important to keep in mind that only one in every ten voters is an evangelical Christian with a biblical worldview and understanding of what it means to be a follower of Christ.
I keep wondering if some of these so called BA’s are liberal Christians who follow the Jim Wallis, Tony Campolo brand of socialist pacifism Christianity? If so, they are still a minority of Evangelicals. Still, any inroads hurts the GOP.
The people they are polling are not born again Christians, they need to get their heads examined.
Similarly, I dont understand how someone can have the Holy Spirit dwelling within him and support the death penalty.”
*******
Try Genesis 9:6
Yes.
The Left has influenced young Christians with soothing talk of “social justice.” They’ve also used the “green” movement to attract them.
Youth groups in large churches are being infiltrated by the Left. The kids love the casual, social enviroment instead of the traditional church atmosphere.
It really comes down to this: Just as Satan first tempted man, the Left is tempting our young people, encouraging them to “question” the rules of religion.
“If it feels good, do it...and still go to heaven.”
hahahahahahahahahaha...
yeah, and I date ten super models!?
Not buying it.
Barack Obama is Christian in claim only. When was he baptized? He’s proud of his skepticism of organized religion (which he got from his agnostic, near unitarian, mother). He does not believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation. He believes that sin is determined by going agaisnt his own value system. He looks on Jesus as a “historical figure”.
“Not in California. White evangelical Christians are voting for Obama.”
That just isn’t true at all.
You just skipped over post 90 and the link in it. This graph shows that evangelicals/protestants are the ONLY ones voting AGAINST Obama.

It should end with the phrase:
"...NOT!"
Cheers!
“Born again Christian”
Is there any other kind? “Except a man be born again.....
And there you have it. I don't know if this survey was broken down by race, but I suspect a lagre portion of the 23% are black BAs. Pity that race trumps even obedience to God.
I also don't believe the following:
According to Dave Kinnaman, president of The Barna Group, born-again Christians voting for Obama say they are backing the Illinois senator because they believe he will do a better job restoring America's reputation...
Christians believe this world is not our home, so why would we care how the rest of the world see us? Jesus taught that the world would hate us (Christians) because they hated Him. A true BA Christian does not look for approval from the heathens of the world.
the handful of Christians I’ve seen with Obama are the ones who think the Bible is optional.
in all seriousness
my wife and i just had a long talk with our pro-life sitter and she said more young folks dislike Obama than the media thinks
and she voted..
my normally kumbaya oldest daughter allowed me to buy her vote for a Burberry quilted jacket but has since determined on her own i was right and has offered to actually pay me back...incredible
“You can take your big tent back to DU, troll.”
We are not God. It is God’s place to judge people. We are not all-seeing and all-knowing, only God is.
If we find people guilty of human laws, then by all means we should punish them by incarceration - and it should be hard incarceration, full of manual labor in exchange for the bare necessities.
But murder is murder, and the commandments say that thou shalt not murder. We should not abort babies, nor should we murder those who have sinned. We are not God. Those are His judgments to make.
Your statement of “You can take your big tent back to DU, troll” shows how devoid of thought and conviction you truly are - you, sir, are the troll, because you want to dodge conversation and blindly attack, like Gollum in a darkened cave clutching your “precious” but empty golden ring.
Many people who claim they are Christians are on their way to Hell. These people are claiming they are born again Christians, but they're not. They are deceived. Obviously, they have never committed their lives to Jesus Christ, or they would never be able to vote for Obama because he goes against everything that Jesus has warned us about.
When we are born again, we are supposed to "come away from our sins." Sure people will still sin, but the difference is that when people are truly born again, they stumble and fall into sin again, but the Holy Spirit convicts them and they come right back and repent. There is a huge difference in falling or stumbling into sin, and living in sin.
In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus is obviously talking to people who thought they were Christians on their way to Heaven, and this is what He told them.
21 Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"
23 And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."
It is as though people believe that all they have to do is recite a few choice words and then poof, they're born again. The mentality of these people is, Hey, I can do whatever I want -- all the fornicating I want, all the lying I want, all the cheating I want, break all of the commandments I want. Why? Because I said the magic words, and now, I'm born again.
Being born again is not just having an emotional moment when the preacher gives the altar call. Being saved is not just lifting up your hand at your buddy's funeral when you are feeling your own immortality. Being born again is not something you get as though you can pick up a quart of "saved" from the corner market and then just go home and store it away on a shelf for emergency use only.
How can they say, "Jesus, come into my life and be my Savior and Lord," or whatever the words were, and then continue on willfully living a life of sinful rebellion? If they have zero interest in pleasing the Lord, following the Lord's commands, learning of the Lord, or turning from their sins, they are probably not born again.
That may be more than you wanted to know. LOL
Yeah I don’t believe that most Born against care about how the rest of the world views them. Thay doesn’t make any sence but there are large congregations of modern born agains. It has been my experience that born again Christians realize the threat of Obama more than most.
You have to remember that a very large percentage of BLACK BAPTISTS are backing The evil, man-child Marxist.
NON-BLACK "evangelicals" support is extremely lite.
“If true they have become apostate and fallen away.”
Lot of that going to be happening, when the time comes. Maybe this is the beginning of the end, and maybe it’s just another surge of such things being noticed.
IIRC that piece Time magazine did sometime back LBJ was Graham's best and favorite president.
Then why was the punishment for premeditated murder, the death penalty under God's own law? God said to send some back to Him, why would you say you do not know what God already commanded?
Big tent conservatives like you claim to be destroyed the party. Your moral gray area mentality is liberalism since you see no difference between the innocent and the guilty and other people pointed you to the bible passages that suggest the death penalty is acceptable. Now like I said, you just joined in October and you are in the wrong forum.
