Okay... I KNOW this is ONLY an online poll, BUT...
They run the poll for a week at a time and over the past 3 weeks, the votes have been going more and more towards McCain/Palin. Now even though this isn't a scientific poll, and McCain/Palin has been winning it every week, the margin keeps getting bigger.
I didn't see when they first started, but 3 weeks ago McCain won 54-43%.
Last week he won 56-42%!
Last week at this same time, he was winning about 60-38%, and today as of 10:20 P.S.T. he is winning 68%-30%! If he continues on the current trend, he probably end up NO WORSE than 62-63% when they close the poll on Friday morning!

I thought people needed to see this, just for a pick-me-upper!
There’s a couple hundred thousand people who vote in this thing. I’ve been tracking it for several months and it has consistently had McCain ahead.
Yes, it’s great news!!!!!! Thanks for posting!
We’re gonna win this one!!!!!!!! OH YEAH!!!!!!
JOHN & SARAH!!!!!!
JOHN & SARAH!!!!!!
JOHN & SARAH!!!!!!
McCain-Palin’08!!!!
I have been following this straw poll, almost from the start and it remains fairly consistent with usually a 15-20% spread in favor of McCain.
I have no idea the accuracy of it, but it is interesting.
I just posted something and I am noticing a surge towards McCain as you say.
well, I would say this for the AOL on line poll.
It is likely all Americans, and most are probably only voting once.
That makes it way different from most online polls.
The poll numbers for Oklahoma have been matching the poll numbers by a local pollster who is very accurate in polling. When I saw that, I was shocked!
I REALLY like the Electoral College vote too... 535-3!!
Could you imagine the faces of the Lame-Stream-Media if that turned out to be the true results!?
The thugs of the country would probably be TOO stunned to riot!
But not by consistent margins. These are not numbers seen since the convention, IIRC.
Grasping at Straws poll?
Great, McCain can be President of AOL!
It’s tighter now than it has been. It’s been like 63-37 for a long time with every state and DC red. A couple of weeks ago it was 55/45 and 0 was winning Illinois, VT and DC
Let's HOPE not! It'd be GREAT if these were real numbers, but the most significant thing is the shift in the percentages.
If you can equate the percentage shift to what real voters are going to do next week, that is a GOOD thing! If it were trending towards NOBAMA, I'd be VERY worried!
I have five AOL screen names/email addresses. Until a few weeks ago I was able to cast a vote using each name (5 votes) but not anymore.
Now if I cast a vote using one name, then switch to another, it tells me I've already voted.
I think AOL has the most honest poll of all and John McCAin has consistantly been the winner.
I noticed the same “trend” in this as you say. For comparison I think that Bush won the last one of these before the 2004 election by 20%. Now this obviously means the AOL users are more skewed toward our side, but Bush did win of course. And right now McCain is doing better than even that 20% gap that Bush had. And these are real AOL users who can only vote once using their screen name, so no vote as many times as you want like the online snap polls on MSNBC, CNN etc.
This AOL poll can’t be any less accurate then the polls manufactured by the liberal media. The AOL poll has tens of thousands of participants who have to sign in and register to cast a vote. We’ll see which one is right.
I’ve been watching this for a couple of months now. I tried the other day to find where the results are archived and cannot find it, but I do know when I started watchng it Ohio, Iowa, PA and the entire NE was all Blue and I’ve watched a steady change to red in all but Hawaii and DC.... We will need a 60% turnout for McCain to overcome all the Obama cheating going on.
Not only that it doesn’t hang up when it doesn’t get the result it is looking for (I’ve heard this is happening to people being phone-polled).....
All it shows is that technically handicapped people who still use AOL is their internet providers are for McCain. I would take it with a grain of salt.
and in 2004 AOL was not using their current method, back then they did cut you of through your cookies, but we all know you can clear cookies and vote again, sometime after the convention AOL took down the straw poll and changed it to include a email address and user ID to vote... Ever since they did that McCain has been doing consistently better than Obama in the poll.
