Several gun stores in the valley have seen an increase in firearm and ammunition sales lately. News 3's Dan Ball explains why the election and the economic crisis have people pulling the trigger.
Jeffrey Bergman and his sister came to the Gun Store on Tropicana to practice their aim.
"We've had things like break-ins in the neighborhood," says Jeffrey. "We're concerned about the increase in crime in the area and protecting ourselves."
Gun Store employees like Randy Formanek say they are seeing more and more folks like Jeff come into the store.
"They see a necessity to arm themselves so that they can defend themselves," explains Randy. "You're going to see more and more people without jobs, more and more economic desperation. When people get desperate, they do stupid things, and you need to prepare yourself for the eventuality of that."
Besides self-protection, gun experts and gun users at the Gun Store say they are also concerned about what the next President may do about gun control.

Yes, I have one minus laser and it is my CCW. I purchased some good snap caps and snapped the trigger a thousand times, (not all at once)and the trigger is very nice now.
Sealed in battle packs? Or in a sealed ammo box with a dessicant pack?
A long damn time.
The ammo prices were about 35 to 40% above this time last year. The firearms themselves were what was up 20%.
It was down to $1.60 last week. That’s a nice drop from #3.90.
>Sorry to hear you wear two hearing aids.<
If that’s all that’s wrong with her, I’ll bet she woke up smiling like I did. Better being deaf than blind, anyday! Don’t feel sorry for the blind man walking down the street. He’s thrilled that he can walk and that his dog loves him.
> Im only 23 and have some hearing loss in the right ear, enough so that I probably cant join the military without a waiver from somebody with some sway. Last I went and had it checked, I think I have a 35% loss in the right ear, and slightly in the left. Along with that I have some tinnitus. I know when a tube TV is turned on before people hear the sound out of the speakers.
It stinks<
It’s Monday and the Sun is shining. You made it through the weekend in fine shape, and are looking forward to another fine week with your 35% hearing loss in the right ear, so thankful that you aren’t completely deaf in both ears as so many others are. You have so many reasons to smile and be truly happy that it is impossible for me to list them all by myself.
You will never have to look far to see someone who would trade places with you in an instant. There’s always someone who is worse off than you are, so get out of the I feel sorry for me attitude and become one of the I am so thankful to be me men of this world.
Sure is. Gas is down a dollar in the last couple of months but it still ain’t $1.89 a gallon, which is about what it was when I decided to put in some ammo stores. Bottom line for me: copper and fuel are about double what they were when I started buying ammo. Now demand is driving prices even higher. Can’t complain too much, though...there have been a couple of periods when supply was zero for primers and loads in some calibers.
Well, the one thing I couldn’t handle too well is not being able to listen to music anymore. Similar to many people, when I listen to music it takes me someplace else, especially if I don’t have to worry about anything. It’s like a small piece of heaven while still alive on Earth.
I dunno how much worse it can get though, I already live in NYC. We have Fuhrer Bloomberg wanting to run for a third term; if he gets it, he’ll probably want to stay in office for life. Comrade Obama gets in, well, it will happen.
And I don’t have anything ranged for defense...
Sell off everything you have on Craigslist, put your thumb out and get out of town. You are a youngster who has the freedom to travel without anxiety. Do it.
And, we have been buying up more ammo. Plan too buy more on pay day the 31st.
Midway.com
I just got 1000 rounds for just over $250 or so. WAY cheaper than I could reload them for.
Non reload-able Steel case ammo, but it'll do the job.
I've got all my mags and stripper clips loaded, and an ammo belt packed with 300 rounds ready for rapid deployment.
I'm sure I'm being way more paranoid than I need to be...at least I hope so.
