PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.
Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.
Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.
The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

A knife attack is not what is seen on TV ...someone using a knife on you will leave a mark that is horrific (actually, take your finger and inscribe a letter on your cheek. Imagine your finger is a knife, and it is being wielded by some 'gangsta' thug ...do you really think it would be that shallow and neat). Even with a super-sharp scapel, I would have to be very light-handed to make it that nice.
ii) The letter 'B' ...why is it not an 'O' for Obama? How many of Hussein's supporters call him Barack, and how many call him Obama. Based on Latina women knife attacks (they are quite handy with a knife), 'B' markings are common, and 'b!tch.' I know the guy was a big black dude and not a latina, but the 'B' could stand for a number of things that are not necessarily Barack.
Anyways, I hope the young lady gets help. Whether it is real or not she needs help. If it is a real attack, then McCain needs to go out strong and hit Obama HARD with it. Because you can be sure that the argument used by the Left with be based on my point number 2: that the 'B' stands for something other than Barack.
At the very least the GOP needs to ensure that this news item makes it to Fox news ....there is no way the other MSM networks will run with it.

Boucheau, I think we need to be cautious here. This kind of inflamed statement will only be used against us. If it is perceived that Free Republic is promoting vigilantism it will only harm our cause. Surely you are not suggesting we suspend the right to a fair trail and burden of proof. BTW I am also a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment.
Part of my doubts about this whole thing is based on first hand experiences. There are a few lonely young woman out there who will do strange things to get attention. Forgive me here ladies; I said "a few" only. I hope this girl does not fall into that category.

The location , Liberty and Pearl, is one with pretty heavy traffic both foot and automotive and the time of the attack 9 p.m. is pretty early in the evening.

Listen, dipsh*t - If a cop was there and witnessed this a-hole attempting to cut this girls face we would be hearing about his death and not his escape. The cop would have blasted him, if he had a clean shot.

I think though that it is likely (NOT at this point definite) that this will prove a hoax. I hope not...But all the points raised in suspicion against this story on the dozen or so FR threads, LGF, Hot Air, MM, etc, really do seem to add up to hoax, IMO. I hope the story is settled soon, one way or another-and if it really happened, the attacker needs to be caught.
There have been many other local type reports of vandalism and even shots fired in many places across the land. It’s always aimed a Republicans. I wonder why? In politics, there are NO coincidences......

If the incident as reported by the girl is accurate then the guy should be arrested and prosecuted. If she reported a false incident then she should be prosecuted although for a much lesser crime. Let the system work.

I have no problem with this statement except for the fact that not everyone has the temperment, maturity and training to carry a concealed weapon. Time will tell if this girl is a victim or fraud. I do not make any claims to know either way.

I was thinking about this some more - my first reaction was that it was a hoax. However, it’s possible that the guy who attacked her was a downtown “homeless” guy who hung out around the ATM. He’s being described as wearing black jeans, a black undershirt and black sneakers, and for some reason, many crazy homeless people seem to favor all-black outfits. Also, if he was using a large jack-knife, which seems more likely to me than a hunting knife, since they are easier to conceal, he could well have had it folded when he scratched her face. In other words, he just used the metal edge of some part of the knife, and may well have been standing over her and holding her head down, since she says she was knocked down. This would have accounted for the way the letter was facing. Also, the “B” did not stand for Barrak, but for “Bitch,” and marking a woman with a B on the face is a pretty common ghetto revenge.
I guess it will depend on what comes out of the ATM films, whether she actually even made a withdrawal at that ATM, and the medical exam that she had later on that evening. I’m sure if she fell (although she appears to be somewhat plump), there’d be other bruising.
But if it’s anything, I’d say it was some flipped out homeless guy, and while a lot of them do have a racial component to their craziness (they were always fond of screaming “white bitch” at women in New York), I don’t think that was its primary motive. It certainly is possible, if she had the back of her car plastered with McCain stickers, though, that this was what enraged him and made him hang around long enough to scratch her.
Still, even after all these considerations, I’m pretty skeptical.

The attacker could have been at a different angle, writing (carving) upsidedown on her face....I guess she gave herself the black eye too?
The B looks upside down, not necessarily back wards, consistent with having ones head pulled back with the victim on the ground with the perp slightly at the head and and chest level from her right. Being at her head, her chin would be at his 12 o’clock position oriented so that he would scrawl the B correctly...how ever it would appear up side down turned counter clock wise to our normal perception. We might even think of it as a back ward B...if the girl was faking it.
