PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.
Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.
Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.
The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

Very well may have; however, the initial robbery was purported to have taken place first. Before the beating. Maybe this was also out of camera range, but then the perp allegedly followed the victim to her car. Which is not likely given that, once they have the money, they usually get the hell out of Dodge. These cameras usually have a 25-35mm fish-eye lens, which covers a lot of ground. I’m waiting to see what the ATM-cam shows.
Well, who knows? Maybe he was sitting in a heated car nearby, waiting for his next mark.
If he was lurking in the bushes or in a nearby alley or something, I’d say yeah, that seems a little strange.

As far as I'm concerned, she's the real deal, just like the woman in Texas who was turned into the Secret Service by an Obama Office. I don't know what Bambi supporters have against Texans but that person joined free republic and we welcomed her here last week.

I hope the Rays won the World Series game tonight.
Whether it is or not, the victim is well within her rights to ask for a copy. What she does with it from then on is her business. Maybe a friend took the picture.
No matter what happens, this girl needs justice, and I hope she gets it.

We need to just let this thing play out. If the girl was so desparate for attention that she scratched up her own face then her acts will be discovered. The truth will come out in the next day or so.
Like some others here I was very skeptical of the story when I saw the photo. The backwards B scratched in without any bleeding does seem likely to have occured during a violent attack. Possible but not likely. The self inflicted mirror job theory is plausable. We simply do not know.
In the meantime I think we need to tone down the rhetoric about killing somebody.
If she did it herself as a set up for “O”bama, then why would this highly intelligent and politically astute young woman use the letter “B” instead of the letter “O” that everyone involved in politics knows is the Obama symbol, just as the swastika is widely known.
Instead the fact that its a “B” further indicates an ignorant attacker, in a hurry and confused on what to carve or in his mind he thinks its “B” for “Bama” instead of O.
The fact he put B just cements it even more that this was no self inflicted mutilation. Just another stupid you know what (uh, thug, that’s right thug) who screwed even this up.
Ever see the photo of the moronic road painting crew that dyslexically painted Sotp in stead of Stop on the pavement?
Or Scool instead of School?
This reminds me of those type of situations.
Some mugger crazy enough to do this would carve O on her face not B. She’s lying.
