I think we have to be real careful. If it turns out to be a hoax the media will be reporting on how conservative blogs were calling for the black guy to be killed. Conservatives will be labelled as racist hate mongers.

We need to just let this thing play out. If the girl was so desparate for attention that she scratched up her own face then her acts will be discovered. The truth will come out in the next day or so.

Like some others here I was very skeptical of the story when I saw the photo. The backwards B scratched in without any bleeding does seem likely to have occured during a violent attack. Possible but not likely. The self inflicted mirror job theory is plausable. We simply do not know.

In the meantime I think we need to tone down the rhetoric about killing somebody.
