Obama In His Own Words: “Tax the heck out of people at the end and just redistribute it”

Buried in that 8,000 (!) word NYT magazine article about Obama’s economic plan that I mentioned yesterday, is this bit flagged by Geraghty at Campaign Spot:

“If you talk to Warren [Buffet], he’ll tell you his preference is not to meddle in the economy at all — let the market work, however way it’s going to work, and then just tax the heck out of people at the end and just redistribute it,” Obama said. “That way you’re not impeding efficiency, and you’re achieving equity on the back end.” He continued by saying that he thought there was some merit in Buffett’s argument.

To which, Geraghty responds: “Isn’t it reassuring to have a presidential candidate saying he sees some merit in ‘taxing the heck’ out of something?” Indeed.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/24/magazine/24Obamanomics-t.html?pagewanted=6

go to the source - NYT Mag, page 6 last paragraph.

” let the market work, however way it’s going to work, and then just tax the heck out of people at the end and just redistribute it,” Obama said. “That way you’re not impeding efficiency, and you’re achieving equity on the back end.” He continued by saying that he thought there was some merit in Buffett’s argument. “

yep, he said it. Now keep in mind that these magazine pieces are written weeks, if not months, ahead of publication.

Therefore, he said this BEFORE his curbside encounter with our hero, “Joe.”

So even if he does try to clarify his answer to “Joe” - it won’t wash. This is his Socialist agenda

Rush has it - we need to email our FOX friends...

NOW - ;o) while it’s topical and on people’s minds - this is the cherry on top.

well yeah this article was published a while ago. but it needed to be brought up now especially since Obama thinks he can use warren to somehow prove he’s not a socialist.

Barackula! lol

Reminds me of the old EIB bit about Count Taxula (Clinton) and his sidekick ‘Algore’. Funny how the Algore name stuck!

Obama still knows nothing of how a capitalist system works nor cares.

But Atlas will shrug, and then he'll be standing there like a doofus wondering where all the $$ went.

“I do think that what the argument may miss is the sense of control that we want individuals to have.....”

“...and I also think you want to instill that sense of self-reliance and that what you do will help determine outcomes.”

Interesting. Not that we want individuals to have control, or to instill self reliance. Just to instill the SENSE of it.

One nasty little secret socialists like Obama don't want people to know is that corporate income taxes are embedded at each stage of production as a cost and are passed onto the consumer in the form of higher prices.

Another nasty secret is that these stealth taxes are highly regressive.

The Fair Tax will not have a prayer until Palin cleans out DC and we get the country back to the concept of limited gov’t.

The Fair Tax puts way to much power into the hands of the people and out of the hands of DC.

I sent these additional quotes out to a few friends today.
***************************
“To do this, he is proposing tax cuts for most families that are significantly larger than those McCain is offering, along with major tax increases for families making more than $250,000 a year. “That’s essentially a major part of our economic plan,” Obama said. “But it’s also a political message.” Economically, he is trying to use the tax code to spread the bounty from the market-based American economy to a far wider group of families. Politically, he is trying to drive a wedge through the great Reagan tax gambit.”
*********************************
“All told, Obama would not only cut taxes for most people more than McCain would. He would cut them more than Bill Clinton did and more than Hillary Clinton proposed doing. These tax cuts are really the essence of his market-oriented redistributionist philosophy (though he made it clear that he doesn’t like the word “redistributionist”). They are an attempt to address the middle-class squeeze by giving people a chunk of money to spend as they see fit.”

And the most telling of all is the philosophy adopted from a potential cabinet member for an Obama Presidency:

“He said it made him think of Warren Buffett, an Obama supporter, who, if anything, might argue that he wasn’t going far enough to change the tax code. “If you talk to Warren, he’ll tell you his preference is not to meddle in the economy at all — let the market work, however way it’s going to work, and then just tax the heck out of people at the end and just redistribute it,” Obama said. “That way you’re not impeding efficiency, and you’re achieving equity on the back end.”

******************************
My comments were:

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The really comical thing is that the author of this pro-Obama piece is clearly so uneducated about free market economics that he is flat out stating that Obama is more “free market” than Ronaldus Maximus. I think that a pre-requesit to get into Journalism school is that you must have undergone a lobotomy.

At least consumers from overseas will pay some taxes if “corporate income taxes are embedded at each stage of production as a cost and are passed onto the consumer in the form of higher prices.” Passing on the cost of keeping the world safe is legitimate and not only US taxpayers should pay.

Someone is going to have to give up a piece of the pie -

Well, you'll notice she didn't have any pie -

but 'tis the way with Socialist/Marxists. YOU give up your slice of the pie = THEY don't. Indeed, they keep the biggest piece of YOURs for themselves. BYW, their charitable donations don't match their rhetoric... What's the URL for that reciept? We need to email to hannity, Rush, Greta, brit - the campaign - cries out for an ad - I also heard that they have ALREADY ordered massive amounts of the same foods for THEIR inauguration dinner.

Both this luncheon receipt and their pre-inauguration orders should be a BIG ad, along with: "No economic tightening for the obaminites. It's YOUR piece of the pie they want to redistribute"
