Buried in that 8,000 (!) word NYT magazine article about Obama’s economic plan that I mentioned yesterday, is this bit flagged by Geraghty at Campaign Spot:

“If you talk to Warren [Buffet], he’ll tell you his preference is not to meddle in the economy at all — let the market work, however way it’s going to work, and then just tax the heck out of people at the end and just redistribute it,” Obama said. “That way you’re not impeding efficiency, and you’re achieving equity on the back end.” He continued by saying that he thought there was some merit in Buffett’s argument.

To which, Geraghty responds: “Isn’t it reassuring to have a presidential candidate saying he sees some merit in ‘taxing the heck’ out of something?” Indeed.

Gee, anyone think the NY Times will notice that their own magazine confirms that when Obama said "spread the wealth" to Joe the Plumber it referred to exactly what all of us said it did!

Interesting that Obama quotes Buffett on this. Of course Buffett and others have their monies invested in a lot of tax free entities that puts their effective tax rate at around 18%. The Hypocrisy never stops and Obama still knows nothing of how a capitalist system works nor cares.

One nasty little secret socialists like Obama don't want people to know is that corporate income taxes are embedded at each stage of production as a cost and are passed onto the consumer in the form of higher prices.

Eliminate federal income taxes and those embedded value added taxes will go away. The solution is currently before Congress known as The Fair Tax Act that will replace federal income taxes with a national sales tax and abolish the increasingly oppressive IRS. There will be only one tax, at the register, and will be itemized for everyone to see. No more hidden taxes. Fair Tax ping!

If you remember in 2004 there was an agitator group going around calling itself "Billionaires for Bush". The irony was, when you looked all at the election uber-doners, they were the real billionaires, and the top 10 were all donating to Kerry. I think the CEO of Progressive Insurance was at the top of the heap, as was the CEO of University of Phoenix.
Then there was that little 11th hour billionaires strategery meeting right before the election with (I think) the NYT.
No surprise that the same holds true for this election.

This idiotic concept shows an abject lack of understanding, not only concerning basic economics, but fundamental human nature. It assumes that as long as you let people MAKE money, unencumbered, that they won’t mind if you then TAKE it from then on the back end.

We already know that Obama is an empty-headed, affirmative action, talentless poseur, but I’m a bit surprised that Buffett (whose idea this is), despite his elitism, is THAT removed from the basic human equation.

The truly wealthy "at the end" do not pay a single dollar in Federal tax on their wealth. Only INCOME is taxed.

The Federal Government taxes incomes and taxing the hell out of small business owners trying to create a small business where they can make $300,000 per year while allowing Teresa Heinz Kerry to sit on $500 million of wealth and allowing Warren Buffet to sit on billions of dollars of wealth without taxing that wealth keeps the wealthy wealthy and keeps small businessmen from ever becoming wealthy.

I spoke with a small business friend late last week. He has 12 employees. He has warned his employees that if BO is elected, there will be higher taxes and thus he will have cut employment.

Two of his employees questioned the legitimacy of the owner’s view and indicated they are voting for BO anyway.

My business owner friend told me that these are the two employees he will let go.

Let BO cut them a paycheck.

This circumstance is not unique. Higher taxes destroy jobs.
