Three points about this:
1. Is Powell going to profit (vis-a-vie) Ifill's book?
2. Who has more stature - a sitting US Senator (J. Lieberman) or a retired AA general/SOS suporting the candidate of the opposing party for president?
3. Is there any differnce between Colin Powell and Wesley Clark?
Oh man, I was hoping he was still going to be McCain’s running mate. /s
I heard one pundit already say that the Joe the Plumber story is a has been story and now everyone will be talking about Colin Powell.
Unfortunately, I tend to agree.
Powell reflects:
- he is a careerist first and foremost. He was a republican when it suited him, now he sees the wind shifting. I think people will see it as a betrayal.
- he is still bitter and ripped at Bush / Republicans for “setting him up” at the UN on the chemical weapons stuff. Of course, that was the fault of the (highly democratic) CIA bureaucracy, but who’s paying attention when you can just blame Bush.
- his Palin comment is a pathetic cheap shot. Biden is a delusional joke for anyone who has any background on foreign policy. Hello? when did the US and France push Hezbollah out of Lebanon? And suggest installing NATO?
- He has MAJOR CONFLICTS in that his venture fund Kleiner Perkins has dumped hundreds of millions in to unlikely “clean tech” stories. They will not see a return unless the government bails them out. Guess who will bail out Colin for certain .... that’s right Mr. Quid Pro Quo himself, Baracky, who always rewards his friends with our money.
Prepare for the American Cultural Meltdown
I think overall she has done a good job. We could say that she was not strong enough in her ideals and her center but she has done as the president has ordered and she did it without any apparent difficulty.
Compared to Powell, she is much more compliant with admin directions and that's a necessary thing for that job. Powell on the other hand, became a thorn in Bush's side and that is not good under any circumstances, but especially during the current terror and two front war.
I'll take Condi over him any day from a pragmatic perspective, but neither will satisfy a partisan.
Endorsements by former SecofState Powell and curent P.O.S. Powell have the same effect as that of flushing a toilet. Powell was a dumbass as a general, and a dupe as SOS. I’m glad his true “colors” are finally coming out. Now I know he is a racist S.O.B. to boot!
You are dead on there. I lost ALL respect for him after that
It makes the choice more black and white for voters on election day.

Colin Powell = Jim Jeffords
Beautifully done!!!!
I’m thinking hypocrite. He says he backs McCain, but thinks that Palin is unqualified and not presidential material.
And yet he backs Obama because he’s surrounded himself with knowledgeable people who will make up for his lack of experience.
That spells hypocrite to me.
Succinct.
Thanks again, Cold Heat, for you insights.
I am now enlightened that when I am without facts, I fall back on “feelings.”
I will strive to remedy that.
Obama is going to lose, and Powell is going to be remembered for this - that he sided with a marxist just because of skin color.
Dear Lord in Heaven, I hope so!
COLIN POWELL = JIM JEFFORDS
Put not your faith in princes, a lesson for some of us...
Exactly, Republican turncoat senator from Vermont whose cowardly defection changed the balance of power in the Senate.
