3 Points About Powell's "endorsement"
10/19/2008 | Gopsterinma

Posted on 10/19/2008 7:14:12 AM PDT by GOPsterinMA

Three points about this:

1. Is Powell going to profit (vis-a-vie) Ifill's book?

2. Who has more stature - a sitting US Senator (J. Lieberman) or a retired AA general/SOS suporting the candidate of the opposing party for president?

3. Is there any differnce between Colin Powell and Wesley Clark?

I was going to correct the name in my other reply, but forgot to add the name.

It should be General Norman Schwarzkopf, Jr.

There was a time I would have voted for Powell if he had run, and even more so for Condi Rice, but, and please let more informed Freepers help me understand, what happened to these people once they went to the State Department?

Is there any difference between Colin Powell and Wesley Clark?

I love that question since I have studied both men. They have a lot in common.

The biggest thing is that both were closeted democrat libs during their military careers. Both claimed to be republicans at one point or another and after retirement they did 180 degree shifts politically. Both have reason to hate a republican administration and both are products of the Vietnam era embarrassments.

Next time it rains, find a small puddle and you’ll see the depth of the Left’s political convictions. They hated him because of the war, and now they love him.

They will be talking about this Powell thing all morning tomorrow. Look for that Obama mouthpiece Gibbs to show up again and praise Powell. Then the usual suspects like Mika, Andrea Mitchell and a couple of liberal columnists like Herbert or Eugene Robinson will be there to sing Powell’s praise while Joe makes a few jokes. Damn, they ought to pay me, I already have the script written.

Powell has officially played not only the race card, but the whole deck (in spades I might add, no pun intended). To paraphrase from his book: he stated that you have to “act white” to get ahead in the white man's world. He's not practicing what he preaches. This is what affirmative action gives us!

I think he has handed us a gift this morning. Play those cards, Colin and I dare you to raise your bet. We'll call your bluff and walk away with the pot, i.e. a non-0bama presidency.

what happened to these people once they went to the State Department?

After being exposed to years of constant whining from the Eurotrash, saying things like....."America has devolved, You don't care about us, You care only about yourselves, You are screwing up the world, You are not civilized."

They begin to believe it.

I think his endorsement has to do with the well being of his family and friends should Obama be elected anyway. I'm not kidding. I think if you are an African American in today's climate, you are in danger if you are vocal in your dissent about Obama.

THat being said, if I saw dickhead Powell on the street, I would spit on him. To betray your country and your friend in one action is unthinkable. ANYONE who holds any republican beliefs cannot vote for Obama. Shame on him. He will pay.

Well, I wonder how much bitterness Colin has towards the current administration after being given the boot in favor of Condi. I wouldn’t be surprised if he enjoys giving a little payback. The guy may never have run for an elected office, but doesn’t mean he hasn’t picked up a thing or two being around politicians much of his life.

As to the race issue? Who knows. But one has to ask the question if Powell would have come out in support of a white Democrat nominee (Hillary or other).

Honestly, I think the guy has never really been a true Republican to begin with and has a score to settle with his former boss.

He is a black supporting a 6.25% black — what can I say. You can bet your money if Obama was white, Powell wouldn’t touch him.

As I put on another article, all the so-called pundits that have become the anti-McCain/Palin along with some other Republicans make the news.

When Hillary supporters and major donors support McCain/Palin, we hear crickets chirping.

Most people and their short memories remember Powell as Secretary of State.

ha...
Andrea Mitchell will have the first orgasm she’s had in years...and years...

Mike Barnicle is now furiously Googling the appropriate words to use on MJ to gush over Colin “The Greatest Man That Ever Graced This Planet Besides Obama” Powell.

Rice and Powell were tthe same before they were SOS...they just suppressed their real poitical persuasions and fooled a lot of Conservatives, most Reps and a few DRats.

I can’t believe I read this turncoat’s book years ago.

Here is where I have a problem with Powell:

1) John McCain’s friend of 25 years
...”sorry John, my blackness is transfomrmational”

2)”the Rebpublican Party has gone too far right”

Powell you are a liar.
A)How much more compassionate could Bush have been with all of the spending.

B)If you were serious about your argument you would have seen that McCain being the moderate that he is would have taken the GOP in a different, non-rightish direction.

A reasonable person would have to conclude that Colon Powell is full of waste. It’s all about being black and “transformational”.

Prepare for the American Cultural Revolution.

Thanks for your response!

I really need to bone up on my understanding of the State Department.

Maybe I should not think out loud, but in my gut there is something more sinister afoot.

I hope you are correct, Cold Heat. Powell is one thing, but the apparent apotheosis of Rice is another, and it seemed to me almost an overnight one.
