If Obama Loses, Don't Assume Racism
Oct. 17, 2008(The New Republic)
This column was written by John McWhorter.
In the increasingly unlikely event that Barack Obama does not become president, Martin Luther King's dream would reveal itself as tragically unrealized 40 years after his death. Not, however, because whites were standing in that dream's way, but because of the black people standing alongside them.
Yes, black people. I find myself unable to trust that more than a sliver of black America would be able, if Obama lost, to assess that outcome according to--of all things--the content of his character.
For 40 years, black America has been misled by a claim that we can only be our best with the total eclipse of racist bias. Few put it in so many words, but the obsession with things like tabulating ever-finer shades of racism and calling for a "national conversation" on race in which whites would listen to blacks talk about racism are based on an assumption: that the descendants of African slaves in the United States are the only group of humans in history whose problems will vanish with a "level playing field," something no other group has ever supposed could be a reality.

Duh.
We know if he wins, it’s racism.
The “ism” that will be the blame for Obama’s loss is Socialism.
This was a surprisingly good article for the New Republic, but it misses something that a lot of news outlets miss. Everyone says this is the Democrats’ year, that because of the unpopularity of the Bush administration Obama should be ahead by 40 to 50 points. I don’t care what the polls show about party identification, Democrats are not any more popular than Bush right now. This is absolutely the lowest-rated Congress in the history of Congresses.
Whether or not he wins or loses there are many cities where I wouldn’t want to spend the night of Nov. 4th. Cities big and small.

Sounds like a sure thing.
It Obama wins it will be due to black racism and whites consenting to radical socialism on an unprecedented scale in this country.
A very well-turned phrase.
In the increasingly unlikely event that Obama will not become President? Really? How about the opposite?
Messiah-ism?
It’s absolutely mind-boggling. Mac’s hot on his heels, within 2 pts. 2 days in a row from Gallup, ahead by 2 in FL. today in one poll, smack dab even in OH, I must be in an alternate universe.
John McWhorter, who I like quite a bit, ignores a major risk of the Obama campaign. If he turns into Jimmy Carter 2 or David Dinkins at the national level rather than John F. Kennedy, there will be black people who will feel he was sabotaged and white people who will believe that it proves a black person can’t be trusted to run the country. The problem is that Obama’s supporters can’t imagine him failing or making a huge mistake so they don’t consider what it will mean if he does.
Be prepared. The MSM and even Fox News and Wall Street Journal are in full Obama praise mode and bash anything to do with McCain mode. It is going to get worse. The MSM, Obama and Pelosi have already started their victory laps. Fools.
The American people are getting fed of with the propaganda. The Obama Kollaide is wearing off and tasting sour. One of the polls will tell the truth to counter the propaganda. Our people will be there to vote but we have to fight, work and fight.
Ignore the polls & MSM.
Donate & volunteer to help McCain-Palin 2008.
Better to defeat him now and spare us the a resurgence of the Klan
Algore, Jon Cary, and Jimmah Cotter all lost because of racism, didn’t they?
No, wait, I meant the same reason obama will lose: socialism.
Infiltration (of the RAT party) and subversion. And how easy it was. A piece of cake. It’s becoming apparent that 0sambo is Mr Ayers’ special project, a hand puppet constructed by a very clever, calculating man. What genius! Present a non-eubonics speaking, articulate black man, but, please not too dark skinned, and the media, the city metrosexuals, and suburban soccer moms suffering from terminal white guilt pounded into their heads daily by PBS, Hollywood and the front pages, will go gaga over him, like he were Fabian Forte after Elvis went to the Army in 1958.
On the other hand, if he wins, can I assume the opposite?
If Obama wins, Assume Racism
