The rivals for the White House are starting to focus on the key Southern states won by George Bush in 2004, with just 18 days to go before the vote.
John McCain, who is trailing in the opinion polls, must hold Virginia, North Carolina and Florida to have a realistic chance of being elected.
Meanwhile, the Obama campaign is pouring resources into Florida, a state once seen as leaning Republican.
Mr McCain will be in Florida on Friday, while Mr Obama arrives on Monday.
Senator McCain will hold a rally in Miami, hoping to mobilise his support among Cuban-Americans, while Senator Obama will campaign in Tampa on Monday before joining Hillary Clinton for a rally in Orlando, on the first day that postal voting opens in Florida.

Does this mean that the democrats have decided that Floridians are allowed to vote this time?
I wonder where the $400 million we’re supposed to have is going to show up?
Throw that post up again. Good information.
Did Slick go down and “work the crackers” yet?
I am going with Fred Thompson and predicting Florida is in the bag for McCain. Galvalnizing support in the Cuban community — give me a break. With Castro endorsing Obama twice there won’t be one vote in that community for Obama.
As for S. Florida, we have some tight Congressional races that McCain can break wide open. Offices in S. Florida are having trouble keeping McCain/Palin signs in stock — they are running out daily.
With Jesse Jackson’s comments that are flying through the Jewish community you can bet Obama is not going to get much support from that group.
If Florida was in play, Obama would be in S. Florida not in Tampa and Orlando — I-4 corridor is filled with current and retired military and has been Republican for a long time. Going to Tampa, home of MacDill AFB and a lot of retired military? Makes no sense but to throw away money. Bet Obama and Hillary don’t get near the turnout as Gov Palin. If it is like Ohio, they are wasting their time.
“I wonder where the $400 million were supposed to have is going to show up”?
...400 million? I thought we only had 160 million?
Where is Joe and Rudy?
Spend some money though.

I live in a small town in western Va, near the West Virginia border. Looking out my back door, I can see my neighbor’s front yard. He is what I think of as typical country folk. Older guy, 1950s greaser hair do, Dodge Ram pick-up. Harley for himself and a Harley for his wife. Weekends have seen upwards of 15 Harleys in their driveway as the friends come by. He just put an Obama sign in his yard! WTF????!!!!! I see a LOT of that around here. You would not believe how many of the richer people do it, too. Rich, white, landowners (5 acres to 100 acres) putting up O signs in horse country VA. WTF????????????????
Rove supposedly has this trove of 527 money that he’s able to distribute.
Maybe the bikers all go out after a party and pee on it.
[if not, I officially disown him as a “biker”]
Excellent! I didn’t know that. Thanks!
I’m thinkin’ that in FL, this might put a hurtin’ on BHO

Say good-bye to yer 401(k) folks.
“I wonder where the $400 million were supposed to have is going to show up?
...400 million? I thought we only had 160 million?”
I wish we would start hearing some positives about print and TV advertising from battleground states.
Everyone was saying that the barrage was to be let off Yesterday, the day after the debate. So far people in battleground states are saying that it is still 3 ot 4:1 Obama to McCain ads. That is just terrible.
yeah, the only place I hear McCain ads is during conservative radio shows!
(Dems pouring $40 Million into State)
There going to be no “wealth to spread around” if obama keeps spending like this!
“Does this mean that the democrats have decided that Floridians are allowed to vote this time?”
Hopefully. I’m hopeful too, that ALL the military votes will be counted this go-round.
