After the debate was over, the "conservative" pundits immediately trashed McCain. This was followed by Frank Luntz, who declared that is focus group idiots loved Obama (of course Luntz also said Palin was the knockout debate winner and McCain would surge in the polls after her debate).
This is supposed to be the conservative network? I switched over to PBS, and Clarence Page was giving more credit to McCain's performance than the Fox pundits. Same on CNN.
It’s far from perfect, but it’s the best we’ve got right now... :-(
The libs can have it. I am done with Fox.
McCain was awesome, and the media is either trashing him to pave the way for Obama. If they would do their job, McCain wouldn’t have to be so “fiesty” as they say.

Thanks!
It seemed to me that Obama was on the defensive all night. He spoke in memorized phrases when he answered questions. But that seems to have swayed the Fox groups.
Right now Rove is on, and at least he sounds like he saw the same debate that I did.
The Fox site has a forum and this is what I wrote:
“I can’t believe that the Fox panel watched the same debate that I did. To me, McCain clearly had the upper hand and was more specific in his answers. Yes — I wish he had brought up more of Obama’s past and controversial figures, but he was pointed on key factors such as education, taxes and the like. Obama answered in generalities, using worn phrases as usual. I don’t think that Obama is his own person, so that may be the reason, but no one owns McCain. Doesn’t the panel see this?
The Fox groups have been disappointing me for some time and much as I love Brit Hume, he too seems to be getting all wobbly. Just now the panel is talking about ‘being (or acting) presidential’. What in hell does that have to do with running the country?
You are losing me -— and many that I talk to feel the same.
HUGE NIGHT FOR MC CAIN.
That is the exact way I saw that. Who do they think we are? We see it, guess we didn't. hmmmmmm I'm so confused.
MC CAIN WON THIS HANDS DOWN. And he will be President of this United States.
We’d be toast with Huck.
I think Joe Biden is qualfied to be President in the event, God forbid, anything should happen to me.”
And you are my new best invisible friend for confirming I am not a sheeple.
I hated that poll guy from all the debates...but he’s the FOX poll expert. (pfft) I gave Fox & Friends a thought about that...Doocy will listen to us and give his tilted “wha” look.
McCain has never been a good speaker. I think he was just the wrong candidate to go up against Obama. We needed someone younger and faster on their thoughts. Part of Mccains problem is he is stuck in the middle and he tries to be part lib/part conservative.
A disadvantage for him because at times he becomes indistinguishable from his opposition. It even confuses him.
I guess McCain did okay for McCain tonight. Who knows maybe we will be surprised. The worst part for him is that over the next days the economy will tank even more and the
MSM will drone on about how wonderful Barry was.
I have a sneaking suspicion about why some of the GOP elites don’t want McCain to win anymore, but I won’t say what it is.
The only thing that stands between us and Barry is the hope US citizens will doubt Barry and vote McCain. Or maybe some miracle will happen.
FOx needs to can “Dr.” Luntz already
I have been asking that same question for weeks? What gives?
Perhaps there was a reason for the leak about Obama trashing Fox for being against him..saying he would be 3 up if they weren’t around...
They are just CYA at this point! I’m ashamed of Fox. Obama was a stuttering fool
From their talking heads all dismissing McCain's ass kicking of Obama to the Luntz group of half-wits, I wish I'd just turned the t.v. off right after the debate.
Hannity is the only thing worth watching, problem there is you have to take the obnoxious colmes.
I don't give a HOOT about Fair and Balanced. I just want FAIR, and I don't have to hear the other side EVER. I know who and what they are.
because SIXTY PERCENT of new comments are vanities or on vanity threads! *head asplodes in frustration*
Also a very fair point. I'm no web guru and I'm sure it's tough to keep this site under control, but perhaps one should only see the comments when in each separate posting section
Unlike deciding against a "right" to abortion, that web design stuff is over my paygrade, but I would like to state that I think vanities are some of the most interesting threads around here, and like flipping by the CBS Evening News when scrolling thru the channels, I am always free to keep on flipping.
That's pretty much the way I saw it.
McCain not only lost tonight but he's lost the entire race. His fundamental flaw is his failure to handle the "4 more years of failed economic policies" argument of Obama. McCain made a mistake by trying to claim he's different from Bush. I personally would have answered that charge by looking directly at the audience and saying; "President Bush's economic policy has been the proverbial 'Bush Tax Cuts' that you have heard Senator Obama bash for months. There is not a single one of you in the audience who's taxes were not lowered by President Bush. He lowered every single tax bracket. Even the lowest bracket at 15% was lowered to 10% by President Bush. The amount of money you can make before it is even subject to federal taxes was raised by President Bush. It doesn't take an accountant or rocket scientist to realize that it was absolutely impossible for anyone to claim their taxes went up. In fact they all went down.
Senator Obama has very effectively convinced a huge portion of the United States citizenry that anything Bush is bad. Hence, when he says "4 more years of Bush's failed economic policies" the lemmings respond with, "YES, repeal those evil tax cuts. We want to pay more taxes. Raising taxes must be good because Bush is in favor of lowering taxes."
Therefore, they will vote for Obama. It's really pretty simple. I don't care how much people hate President Bush, if you make them look stupid for holding their positions, they are likely to change that position. But instead, McCain has been trying to distance himself from the President hoping against hope that no one would look behind the curtain and notice that the 'R' behind McCain's name looks suspiciously like the 'R' behind the President's name.
Even Lizzy Dole is losing big in North Carolina for crying out loud. I wonder what would happen if Bush spent the next 3 weeks on the stump for Republicans?
You sir, are the reason Shakespeare may have overstated the case.
Thanks for backing me up. I’m taking some hits tonight for my opinion. So be it.
One other thing: I got aggravated tonight when McCain said we needed to make changes from the way things had been done for the last 8 years.
Why did he say 8 years? He just validated Obama’s anti-Bush positions. Why didn’t he say the last 16 years, and include Clinton. What about the last 20 years. Anything but “the last 8 years.”
Sent the following e-mail to Fox News about an hour ago (thirty minutes after the debate):
As a long-time viewer, who was desperate for a truly honest news network about five years ago, you have now lost me. Your never-ending claim of "Fair and Balanced" has actually proven to be a bunch of hooey. Your headlines parallel CNN, NBC, MSNBC, etc..
As well, time and again you refuse to cover controversial subjects (choosing to remain PC I suppose). And, you consistently fail to challenge obvious lies and misstatements espoused by your parade of liberal talking heads. You bring on two opposing views for every subject which results in a non-stop, never-ending shouting match. So, henceforth I will get my news unfiltered from the Internet and I will listen to conservative talk radio.
By the way, I am 60 years-old and the owner of a small business that employs nine people. I believe I represent one of your target demographics. Be assured, I will be telling my conservative friends how Fox News has become simply another 24/7 liberal news channel, with phony left-of-center moderates (i.e. Bill Kristol, Bill O'Rielly and Fred Barnes) vaguely pretending to be conservative.
