“Oil breaks below $85!”

Best economic news I’ve heard in a good long time.

I’ve seen it around $3.30 or so here in the Seattle area, and it’s been falling more all week.

This is really good news. It’s one very important cost that struggling businesses don’t need just now. Cheaper gas is going to make the difference for some of them.

Brent Crude is currently @ $82.66/bbl. WTI should follow tomorrow. Regular unleaded wholesale is now @ $1.98/gal.

Except that OPEC has called an emergency meeting to stop falling crude prices. They’re going to tighten the noose.

Somebody call Bill O'Reilly!

With gas prices going down everywhere all at once, there's obviously a conspiracy involved!

Yeah, but I expect we shall soon be hearing the sonic barrier being broken as OPEC members fly to an emergency meeting, hoping to shore up their stratospheric prices by cutting production. We need our own oil. We need to be developing alternatives. We need electrics and hybrids built here in america. We need clean coal, we need that shale oil. So that our economy recovers, we are using less and less imported fuel. This oil price drop, is symtomatic, and the prices will skyrocket again, once the =y think they can charge whatever they want again.

We dare not forget, how when oil got down to $105, how it shot back up to $126 in less than 2 days, when they thought they had us ove the proverbial barrel again...in fact they still do.

Gee that doesn't sound like "the market sets the price" to me.

Manipulation and collusion isn't free market.
