Okay, folks. Let's keep an eye on this debate and see if Sarah can beat down hairplug.

Sarah did the job that she needed to do. She reached out to the American people and the American people will respond.

I posted a lot (well, as much as I could as slow as the server was) that she failed to make the attacks she needed to. I am interested to see how many of the loathsome Luntz Focus Group people say she won. It’s encouraging.
And no questions about whether she is qualified.

Chris Matthews looks on most of the world as beneath him, as rednecks. Why he has such an exalted opinion of his own position on the pecking order is beyond me. I just think of Hyacinth Bucket/Bouquet when Chris Matthews makes one of his condescending remarks.

agree. I also wish she wasn’t constrained by the McCain line. She has made a mockery of the whole “maverick” thing. When you use it as much as she did tonight, it’s sounds like you don’t believe it or you think others don’t believe it, and the undecideds and moderates will pick up on that - those are the people she needed to win over.
Not only that, but using the maverick stuff so much, she set herself (and McCain) up to be shot down by Biden over that and she’s given the media soundbites which will be used to mock her and McCain.
I half expect a Tina Fey skit Saturday night where it’s just her saying “Maverick” over and over.
Like another FReeper said, if you have to keep calling yourself a maverick, or you have to have to your VP candidate call you a maverick a lot, then you probably aren’t a maverick. If you are, people know it.
You may be right about the SNL skit. The juveniles there would they were way cool to do that (rolling eyes here). On the other hand, you absolutely won’t see a skit with Joe Biden mentioning Scranton and Exxon’s 4 billion dollar tax cut 3,000 times.
He sounded convincing about every lie that came out of his mouth. Sarah sounded REAL and down to earth...and honest. But, Biden has a way to make whatever he says convincing. I was greatful when Sarah would smile and call him on things and his smile was a mile wide...and it looked like he was saying “GUILTY”. She was better than I expected..
This tells me all I need to know about who won.
