-snip On Oct. 2, 1998, 10 years ago today, at the height of the Lewinsky scandal, my sister and I traveled to Center City to protest Bill Clinton during one of his numerous presidential visits to the area. Little did we know that the Teamsters Union would be present to intimidate and harass us at every turn - --snip-- After a quick verbal exchange, an old-style Molly McGuire Union Boss, John Morris, rammed a fedora over my face, blinding me to the onslaught of Teamsters who would proceed to knock my sister and I to the ground. Once we were down, they pummeled us. If my sister hadn't protected my head from some of blows, I don't know if I'd still be alive.
In the aftermath of the highly publicized beating, District Attorney Lynne Abraham prosecuted me on trumped up charges that I had hit two Teamster women - despite exculpatory police statements

Good evening.
A 2005 sign up date and you are familiar and active regarding the Adams. I'm impressed, both with this post and how FR still resonates regarding this travesty of justice after 10 years.
Ed, you, your wife and the Philly teamsters still suck sh#t.
May God bless Don and Terri.

I remember it well. Those are the sorts of people that Democrats want to rely on to make sure votes on unionizing are “fair”. People wondering where a budding fascist in these “enlightened” times would find his brownshirts ...need only look at our rotting cities and the people most responsible for them.

These loyal members are key to Obama and the Democrat’s economic strategy. If higher taxes, unbridled Democrat pork and patronage, insane regulation fail to help the economy, don’t worry. You can show up on tv wearing a knit sweater like Carter and blame America for everything ...and lose the next election ...or you can start a class war like our country has never seen before and hope it distracts voters in 2010 or 2012. If you choose the latter, here are your shock troops, ready to work hand in hand with other model citizens in groups like ACORN and all the new federally funded ones that Pelosi and Reid will be eager to start. Call it the “Chavez” strategy (and I’m not talking about Cesar Chavez).

Thank you, amom. : ) These kinds of tactics (silencing conservatives) live on to this day in the Obama campaign and therefore we can’t forget!

I loved protesting on behalf of Elian and think of and pray for him still. I well remember our time together, and how the Clinton administration kept that beautiful child and his family prisoner in America (of all places, using American police and security officers to kidnap and hold him) for the evil slob that he is, Fidel Castro and then returned him to Castro's despicable arms. It was one of America's lowest moments.
I didn't think we could go lower 'til Terri Schiavo.
We need more good people like Governor Palin in office and we must work hard and pray hard for a McCain/Palin victory!!!

It is true. They thought they would charge Don (the victim) and then give him ARD probation, and we would run away. I'd say they were more than a little wrong. : )

"Philly has, probably the worst union thugs in the country. They run the City government for all intents and purposes."Governor Ed Rendell told John Fund, months after the incident, that the Teamsters run the Philly court system. Mr. Fund included that in a WSJ article posted on FR years ago.

...GentleFReepers...
I've recently run into several folks on the job who have moved down here from "up North" and in some ways they very much remind me of this incident. They like the "in your face" and "gang up" tactic and they seem, shall we say, somewhat surprised that I don't back down.
God help the first one that decides to get physical with this 'gentle' FReeper.
