Reading FR over the past 48 hours or so has been downright depressing. Yesterday I found myself snapping at my children for no other reason than my negative state of mind. The election is still a month away. I don't believe that all is lost. Polls are being manipulated and so are we!
So, what GOOD news have you heard lately? What is going on in your part of the country that gives you hope that McCain will win? What positive anecdotes can you share with all of us? Post it here. We could all use the encouragement.
Cool!
I didn’t shave today!
It’s always darkest before the dawn.
Florida from all accounts will go to McCain — pollsters tried to do the same thing to Bush in 2004 and McCain has more support in FL this time according to the number of people volunteering and wanting signs. So many people in FL are now making calls that they know longer need us from safe states so I am now making calls into Iowa. If MO was in doubt, I would be making calls there IMHO.
I grew up in Ohio and that Bradley effect is very strong in portions of that state and pro-military. McCain will win Ohio. I agree on VA and for the first I believe PA is really in play. I also think we could get WI since we lost by such a small margin the last time due to cigarettes being handed out.
Believe MO is in the McCain camp — was there recently and don’t see an Obama win.
He died several years ago.
Which part?
I would post pictures of my wives but they are they jealous type.
BTW - I love your tagline!
LOUD NOISES! LOL!
good news is that email is a really easy way to score with your congress-person.
Gallegly (CA24) was leaning YES but voted NO in the first round of the Financial Mess Extension Act.
His email server is still accepting emails....more good news
here is my latest to the Hon Congressman:
NO, NO, NO
You have done it once, it should be easier this time.
NO
the Senate bill is a perfect example of what is wrong....piling on pork will not fix the bill.
pandering for votes is the problem.
government rewarding itself with public money is the stuff that rebellion is made of.
government rewarding inside elites is the fuse
that lights the powder.
not to stretch the analogy...this revolution will be at the polling place....not in the streets.
decide who you represent.
vote
NO.
just a thought—maybe they are doing absentee voting
That’s the very best news EVERY day!
I wrote my congressman, but he’s a jackass.
crap, i missed it, how can i find it?
I didn’t pay a lot for my muffler.
Everyone here seems to want to overlook Wisconsin. That has been my true toss-up state since Day One. And it was the very first state McCain/Palin visited after the convention.
Britain has reversed itself and now allows Gurkhas who retired before 1997 permanent residency. That's when the main Gurkha base moved from Hong Kong to the U.K. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7644441.stm
Joanna Lumley, the actress, was championing the cause.
The Maoists are still blocking the Miss Nepal pageant as demeaning to women. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7641680.stm
The woman in the picture doesn't look like she feels demeaned!
On the other hand, the Maoist government took over the job of the former King's priest and appointed a new Kumari, one of whose selection criteria is beauty! Go figure! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7642798.stm
There is bad space news. Hubble experienced a major equipment failure, a processor through which all the scientific data is sent. There is a back up they will attempt to turn on. The repair mission has been postponed until this problem is worked. There is a replacement in storage that could be taken up on the mission. So, I guess the good thing is it happened before the repair mission, not after. http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20080929/sc_space/hubblespacetelescopesuffersseriousfailure
Now, the good news. The guy who invented PayPal has founded a company called SpaceX, the aim of which is to develop a private space payload delivery service. They successfully tested their Falcon I missile, which flew higher than the International Space Station into orbit! http://www.informationweek.com/news/hardware/supercomputers/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=210604571
They plan an entire family of Falcons! I wonder if they give airmiles??
There's strange news too!
In England, a teenage student won the lotto. When a phone call confirmed she had the winning numbers, she and her mother began screaming and jumping around. Her dog was so discombobulated, that it bit her in the butt! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/cumbria/7643584.stm
Pictures of the winner and "perp" inside.
Does her everyday coffee taste this bad??? A woman in Iowa called authorities about a bat in her house. She set up her coffeemaker alarm to brew her morning coffee. Next day, she drank her coffee and went about her business. That night, doing dishes, she found the bat in her coffee filter! She's having to do rabies shots because the animal was so cooked they can't test it! Café au bat! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,429921,00.html
Just the thing to spice up morning coffee!
We have a Darwin honorable mention! A man looking for an event north of New York obeyed his GPS and turned onto a railroad track! The only thing that kept him from being a winner is that he got out of the car and called police. See why men don't ask for directions this is just the kind of thing that can happen! http://lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080930/NEWS02/809300392/-1/newsfront
That movie is great for one-liners.
“I’m trapped in a glass case of emotion!”
“No commercials, no mercy!”
“You are a smelly pirate hooker.”
“Scotch, scotchy scotch. Here it goes down. Down in my belly.”
Stop me. I seriously could do this all afternoon.
My two grandchildren are now napping so I can read FR.
More good news.
Just found out we will be having two more grandchildren next May.They are due within a week of each other.
I dont know what to call it, a gut feeling I guess, but I have a feeling there are not nearly as many idiots out there who are going to vote for Obama as we are being led to believe. We know the media is in the tank for Obama and as socialist they all believe the end justifies the means. This means doing anything, fudging to poll numbers, forgetting to mention you have written a pro Obama book when being considered for a moderator job, and any other devious act that republicans never would consider doing under any circumstances. After all, one major difference between democrats and republicans is that republicans are strongly principled people who would never sell their soul to win. Whereas the democrat are always glad to jump in bed with the devil to get them what they want. I just hope that all republicans do their duty and vote for McCain. I can only hope that every republican knows what is at stake. Everything we hold dear is on the line. I remember learning in school of the bravery of men like Gen. Washington and the men at Valley Forge, Nathan Haless bravery in stating that he regretted having only one life to give for his country, and the steadfast leadership of President Lincoln. No doubt if todays mainstream media had been around back then it would have been Bendict Arnold who was the hero. I know I am showing my age since such things are no longer taught in public schools today, and that is a shame. But I sincerely hope the day will come when Americans can again be proud of the history of the greatest nation ever to exist. If Obama wins this election all our heritage will be lost and all the brave souls who died in all the battles that earned this nations its freedom will have died for nothing. We must never let this happen. If we lose this election I for one will be buying more weapons and all the ammo I can afford. I believe then day will soon be at hand when we will have to take our country back the hard way, and I plan to be ready.
Why is oil dropping
