Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel will perform together at a concert in New York City next month to raise money for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Obama plans to attend the October 16 concert, which was confirmed by his campaign and a publicist for Springsteen. Joel's publicist was not immediately available.
Springsteen announced his support for Obama in April when he posted a message on his website. The musician and songwriter, known as the Boss, said the Illinois senator has "the depth, the reflectiveness and the resilience" to be the next U.S. president.
Other celebrity Obama supporters include TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey and actors Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Halle Berry.

Joel is a melodic genius. He’s written more standards (tunes everyone knows) than any other American songwriter of his generation. A lot of people think ‘NY State of Mind’ is actually a song from the 1930s or so.
And Springsteen is playing at the SuperBowl. Is the whole world against us or what?
I'm not sure how you qualify that, but ok. My reponse is that that's problem the main reason why I hate taking the elevator and going to the dentist so much.
Hell, he wrote the Springsteen song that Bruce WISHES he wrote (”Say Goodbye to Hollywood”).
But they are no Bob Seger. Yes, I'm biased being from Ann Arbor.
I need to correct myself- the show will be at the Hammerstein Ballroom which only holds 2,500 people. So yes, there will be less than 10,000.
Bruce Springsteen will preform this Saturday in Philly at 3 PM.

A lot of great pop music gets played in muzak arrangements. So what? Joel has always been a Broadway/ Tin Pan Alley style tunesmith masquerading as a Rocker. To claim he has no musical talent is not be very knowledgable about what musical talent is. Even critics who don’t like him concede that he was a natural.
Well said. Incidently, I have never watched Oprah Winfrey but Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks are two of my favorite actors. And I also am still fond of Scarlett Johansson and Halle Berry for other reasons.
Billy Joel, I grew up listenin’ to him...but all of the music I’ll buy of his now will be in a “used CD” store...he won’t get one more friggin’ dime from me.
What a jerk, why couldn’t he keep his love of the Socialist of our time to himself?
“Is he going to sing, ‘born in the USA”
Very funny..LOL
You don’t really have that sort of thing now. Joel, Springsteen and Seger wrote intelligent pop rock for adults that was very popular. Top 40 is now unlistenable kiddie dreck.
Enough said:
Alcoholism
In 2002 Joel entered Silver Hill Hospital, a substance abuse and psychiatric center in New Canaan, Connecticut. In March 2005 he checked into the Betty Ford Center[16], where he spent 30 days.[17]
Politics
Joel is a long time Democrat and supported Bill Clinton for president, Hillary Clinton for Senate, and Barack Obama for president.[18]
Actually, I've never been a slave to critics, so my definition of musical talent is whatever I can stand listening to. Billy Joel makes my ears bleed, and I am not alone.
Me too. I ll take Alan Jackson and George Straight any day over those big city yahoos.
Is there anything genuine about Obama and his band of idiots?
“Lately, Springsteen has come under mild criticism for putting on a ‘tortured soul’ persona to rejuvenate his flagging career. Many music critics seem to suggest that the old trick of projecting ‘pseudo angst’ to create an image of the artist who ‘bears the world’s burden’ is overdone, and might actually hurt Springsteen’s core base.”
There’s lots of music I don’t care for but don’t deny the participants’ talent. I don’t really care about Miles Davis for example. You certainly aren’t alone but Joel’s talent is along the lines of Paul Mccartney or ABBA (who I bet you also think have no talent). Great craftsman.
The more of them who are trampled, the better, too.
Happy to say I have never given either of these losers one red cent.
