I get the feeling that the campaign is sort of frozen and can't get on track. They lack message and energy. Maybe they are working on a revised gameplan. Maybe they are all pointing fingers at each other.

Bottom line: there is still LOTS of time to turn this around and win. But they got to develop a coherent response and do it soon.

Last Friday, the meeting at the WH blew-up precisely because John McCain said, “The House Republicans are right on this issue” which prompted Obama to throw a screamin’ hissy fit.

Lord these are crummy tracking polls that give Bambi a 6 point lead in there formula based on a mid term election turnout .
There is probem there ,the Mark Foley scandal cause that turnout to be weird.
Its a best guess poll using automatic phone calls .
The Bat Grnd has McCain ahead and that is that poll that did not swing last time and called the election in 2004 and 2000 .Ras was way off in 2000 by 8 points !

To me 51 to 45 could be worse. Gore recovered from Similar numbers to win the popular vote in 2000.

Ric Davis should be fired and Steve Schmidt should be given complete control.

McCain's campaign has gone off the rails ever since the revelation about Rick Davis' $15,000/month from Freddie Mac. McCain has steadfastly refused to mention anything about Obama's links to Fannie Mae cash. Perhaps there is even more to the Davis story than meets the eye.

I agree. I think McCain has a plan, but he wants the right timing. He better act quick though.

The 2006 numbers were inflated because of GOP defections (mostly stay-at-home voters). I doubt we'll see such defections this time around, as McCain holds over 90% of his party - something extra-galaxy-like compared to what the GOP held of their own party in 2006.

It is still highly unlikely that Barack Obama just absolutely obliterates history and turns out a 150% better party ID turnout gap than has ever happened before in one election. Six percent is too high.

You might - might - be able to sell me on 2.5% to 3.5%. Maybe, but I'd even doubt that. The simple truth is: If six percent is accurate, we should be saving our money and efforts for more constructive things, because this race absolutely CANNOT be won.

If Barack Obama has succeeded in staggering the National curve 6% in one election, then we really never had any chance of either winning the White House or stemming near-Supermajorities for the Democrats. It was never possible for even one second.

Six percent is too high. The base is too motivated now.
