I get the feeling that the campaign is sort of frozen and can't get on track.

It's on track for the nearest cliff. I saw the following article this morning and have determined that McCain doesn't want to be POTUS:

McCain focusing on Iowa despite polls

McCain in Iowa? Enough said. Obama has got to be laughing his head off right now.

Cat do you now know the internal polling?

Not a person here know the real numbers, only the McCain and Obama camps do.

Iowa might be gone, but do you think the campaigns give a darn about RAS and Gallup?

McCain would not be in Iowa unless his polling showed that he was doing well.

Is it at least possible that the campaign knows something the pollsters don't? I'm guessing he has good reason to be in Iowa, probably because his internal polling shows something we aren't seeing.

McCain is likely behind, but I honestly think it's on the order of 2-3 points. Perhaps FReepers place too much faith in public polling.
